"Colored text... makes it very easy in a crowded panel to distinguish who is talking" - This totally Grim hit the nail on the head and the color keeps the text bubbles from needing distracting tails everywhere.

Personally I always seen nihallak voices are kind of neutral, maybe male-ish in pitch and tone, but sounding pieced together, like an automated phone call service or virtual voice assistant, because they don't have a mouth or tongue to talk with, they just "emit" sounds from a hole. Would you have an image to show as exemple of your bubble idea, I kinda have trouble imagining it, like, wouldn't the think lines get in the way of the text? And you're welcome. You people made the comic possible, so it's only fair I ask and take in account your feedback.

Agreed, legibility is the number 1 reason I ever considered removing color, but people seems to want to have it around, so I'll have to experiment with the paler tones.

Hi! Though I voted for the shouting balloon in version 3, I think it's more suited for a situation when a shout is "kept within", like when a character would shout but cannot/won't. For a "full" shout I think n. 1 would be best. Also, if I may suggest, I think of a Nihallak's voice as deep and otherwordly (they're aliens after all!); in my mind it may be well represented by a bubble made by many, thick straight lines connected, a bit like the profile of a crystal. The lines might also be a bit irregular or dirty. This suggests a strong and unnatural voice to me. Finally I'd like to say thanks! It's nice to be able to express our 2 cents on such details! Makes FvT feel more "personal" imho ;)

I like the color text, however I do think it needs to be ever so slightly bolder so it is more legible.

I really like the design of version 2 across the board, but I worry about legibility issues - specifically with the size of the Nihillak font - and I generally prefer speech bubbles (even thought bubbles) with attribution tails. Either way, though, I think the colored text really adds to the flavor of the comic. :D

Colored text is obviously very important for your comic where it makes it very easy in a crowded panel to distinguish who is talking. I feel like there is a visual consistency between the original speaking and thought bubbles and version 2 of the shouting bubble. I feel like the other options are a little too busy by comparison. You could be forgiven for choosing any of the shout bubbles though. My second choices would be version 1 version 2 and version 3 for speak thought and shout.

yeah if I keep using colors, I probably would need to darken the paler font to help with that. I was looking for a second option to color vs black but nothing good came up.

Ok, for the nihallak font, it's exactly the same font, but I see what you mean, I think it's because it got processed differently because this is a small test picture rather than the regular comic. As for the balloon tail in the shouting version, yeah I didn't draw it, but I could add it in the proper comic.

None of new shouting versions have a proper tail to show who’s speaking. Similarly, I dislike thinking version 2 for lacking a bubble trail to the character. All 3 versions of normal have a poor font for the Nihallak as their tops and bottoms are irregular and don’t line up with each other, so I prefer the original font. However I like the word balloon shape of version 3 for the Nihallak.

I find that the font on Version 1 is most legible. Some of the others are faded and harder to read.
