The space thing seems to be Patreon because it looks right on my screen. Fixed the second one! Thanks!

Erlost

Holy shit. I’m laughing maniacally with tears flowing due to that ending. Absolutely incredible.

I agree so completely with you! PM was the first story I've ever followed in the patreon "chapter by chapter" format because I loved the ones that were available on KU so much I literally could not wait for the next to arrive. While there is certainly a lot of love shared here, if you are looking for the community that is as passionate about the world as you, head over to the discord channel that you should have access to as a patron. a bunch of us wax relentlessly on the world, what might be coming, our reactions to the release, etc over there. Its a lot of fun.

I read this chapter yesterday morning, and it has stayed with me. So much so, I keep coming back to the comments just so I can feel a sense of community around the experience of having read it. My son is a kindergartener. I have a so many books at home, but lately I have started building a library for him more consciously. I would like to make the books that I've loved physically available to him, thinking he may do like me someday and just start reading whatever is in the house. I can only hope! I was reflecting on Player Manager today and thinking I would love it if my son picks it up when he's older. The whole thing is so well written, and portrays the world from a perspective I would love for my son to experience. Max loves women, in a respectful and joyous way. He loves and takes care of his mom. He is a loyal friend. He is compassionate, and empathetic. He is driven, but also recognizes when to walk away. He understands that toxicity is contagious, but that so is joy and good values. He leads by example. He loves a challenge, but while he doesn't choose the easy paths just because they're easy, he's also not out to make life purposely harder for anyone either (including himself). He chases money not for status or flash, but for what it can build. He saves his money and invests. He thinks long-term, while enjoying his present. He sees value in people's character and talents, not in their perceived power or social class. He's grateful. He drinks and socializes, but is disciplined and focused. He cares about education for the right reasons. He's well read, and cultured, even as a broke barely-middle-class dude. He can be oblivious at times, but there's a lot of introspection that ultimately results in self-awareness and growth. I can keep going on and on. The whole Chester world is such a healthy portrayal of an aspirational life. How to be a great, if imperfect, leader, employee, partner, friend, competitor, man, woman, winner, loser...I WILL buy the books, little by little, because if there's even the slightest chance that my son will someday pick up this story and love it even half as much as I do, it will be worth every penny. PS, I hope your doctors appointment went well.

Kanyau

Welp, damn.

Ricky Kukowski

Goosebumps at the end.

Richard Carling

Thank you for the touching tale.

10/10 no notes. Good stuff as always, Ted. Thanks for the feels.

I always thought LALAC/ABOB discord were my favorite chapters but these 2 def switched me to Beth’s articles

Geoff Urland

What a great f'ing chapter and twist. I'm excited to see how Max deals with and grows from this.

MomoKokomo

I read it this morning, got my work done, but couldnt stop thinking about it all day so here I am again. What a great chapter. Im sorry about your mom, and your friend. My mom also had Alzheimers, This book, man.

MomoKokomo

I agree. In my mind, this is the proper ending of the prior book. These extra chapters were the arc I needed to feel satisfied. Im still excited to continue the story; I would just feel more at peace if this was the ending and I still had to wait about a year to continue the story (like those on Audible might have to when it reaches this point in the story). If I had to wait any more than just a few days to get from that ending to this one, I'd go as bald as Jackie Reaper. This chapter also sets up the next part of the story nicely. I'm hoping for Max's return to Chester, well on his way to cementing himself as an absolute legend in Chester. Max Best Greatest Manc of All Time. I imagine him gathering the kind of following only famous home town hero foot ball players can gather by the time he gets to the Prem. Does Messi touch the ground in Argentina? Max Best floats over the streets of Chester. The whole city become loyalists. Maradona who? Even Totti in Rome cant measure up to the love Chester has for Max (fingers crossed).

1. Licence is the British spelling. 2. Hollow can be a noun as well; in this case, it's referring to emptiness within Max's hood.

Weirwood

There is a way you write some of the quieter moments that absolutely strikes at my core. Beautiful chapter.

Riekko

Great chapter. Editing suggestions: 1 “midfielder has licence to” should be license. 2 Is there a word missing after hollow in this “we see only a hollow and” ?

Olof Falk

Just beautiful. I love this story so so much

Matty

Perfect 👏 his fear of a life for a life after his plea to save the man. The relief of coming home to Poland. Anna was the goat with that picture 🐐

Galeg

God damn. THAT is how you write an ending.

Galeg

"I knew you were polish." -Such a good call back.

Tareq Malikyar

I'm crying. No notes. (some notes below) Edit Suggestions: pulls a face, pushes it away. "He has -- this could be a Patreon thing again, but the space is after the period and before the quotation here When most parisheners have cleared out -- parisheners -> parishioners

Jaydan Man

This is a wonderful chapter. The ending of the last book left me feeling like there was something else, like it it wasn't quite finished or I was still waiting for a climax. This was it. Top writing.

Jason Nichols

Oh man, so good. I cannot even

GuyWhoReadsALot

My mom has alzheimer's. A couple of years ago my best friend killed himself, and my mom didn't seem to understand. But then one time six months later she asked me out of the blue how my friend was doing and I explained how he had killed himself, and she understood and she hugged me and I cried like never before because I knew my mom got it. So I fully understand what it means to Max to know that his mom gets it. Also how am I supposed to get any work done after reading this?

Dheeraj Dwivedi

Boshed it!! 10/10. No notes.

Droman

Oh fuck you Ted I didn't need to cry in eight words at 5 in the afternoon at work, man.

Jake Lewis

Man I don't even have the words

Tyler Jansen

I am not embarrassed to say that made me cry. Well done Ted

Crimson King99

Absolutely brutal in the best way possible. This confirms that the Beth article chapters are my favorite, and this one is the best of the lot. Perfect, Ted.
