I think that's a good idea; continue the flashback at a further point in time.

I wouldn't object to continuing this flashback. But definitely back to the present after that. Don't want it to be like that anime I watched where the first 4 (out of 26) episodes were in the present day, then the rest of the series was stuck in a really long flashback until the final 2 episodes.
