Yeah I liked it, had a lot of stories about grunge, punk and riot grrrl in the late 80s-90s. Its written in short chapters with all the fluff cut out which I appreciated!! If you like the music from that era it’s defo worth a listen, had stories about Kurt Cobain that were missing from Dave Grohl’s book!

The Jameela thing is because she posted a picture of herself in dress and she is clearly very thin, and people were commenting on how thin she was alluding to the fact that she might be on Ozempic…then she went on some insane rant condemning everyone for commenting on weight when that’s literally all she does.

Just finished reading Kathleen Hanna’s book- she also doesn’t have great things to say about Steve Albini and this kind of punk in general. She recorded a tape with him pre-bikini kill and he had a sticker on one of his speakers that said ‘rapeman’, which turns out to be the name of his band named after a comic book where the hero is a rapist. Definitely shock value, ‘misunderstood man’ behaviour but yeah not isolated. She ended up throwing the tape out but it read like one example of the bad behaviour of his brand of punk men at this time.

I interned for Rachel Ray’s morning show and she was mostly fine but there was a makeover segment that was truly atrocious. Not only was the final look bad, but also they had to pick a new candidate because none of the clothes they brought fit the woman who was supposed to get a makeover. She was maybe a size 10? So not only did she find out her coworkers nominated her for a makeover because her style was bad, but then they had to send her away since the clothes were too small. Again the final look was bad so she was probably better off but that double whammy of being publicly embarrassed stuck with me. Rachel wasn’t there but I can blame her haha 😆
