“Poverty” as an excuse can only be taken so far. People struggle and might be trying to make things happen. But if the gov is providing ssi benefits (and medicaid) and there hasn’t been any movement on getting an essential surgical procedure, then you are just not doing your job as a guardian (regardless of how much you scream about being a mother). This show is trashy and exploitative, but the Mans family seems to fit in with the vibe.

This poor girl...why do we believe every single bad thing about her and at the same time not believe her at all. She's not sinister and she's been made out to be for years. She's not a media mastermind or trying to cause harm to others is my feelings. She's been treated with suspicion for years. How do we expect her to act as an adult now?
