Ha ha, so the show was at Interlochen MI, (there’s a prestigious fine arts school there that she attended in the early 90s). So one of the (many) stories that she told involved how the students and staff at Interlochen just couldn’t believe how quirky she was, you know, being from Alaska. she tells this particular story a lot, but I have questions bc I find it hard to believe that at this art/theater kids school that she would’ve stood out so much that people were pointing and laughing at her . https://www.northernexpress.com/amp/news/feature/interlochens-crown-jewel/

I saw Jewel last summer when she toured w/Melissa etheridge and 30% of her set (I’m not kidding, she would talk for 10-15 min between songs) was telling these fish out of water/im not like other girls stories. We left her set early.

Yes! And you can do a hand sign to tell someone u love them ...pointer, four fingers, three fingers. My kids and I used to do that for a while after our lives were elevated by watching the Mr. Rogers doc a few years ago.
