Trovarion

currently filming the first video that follows these suggestions and requests and it is dealing with most of what you mentioned :)

Blending, especially where contrast is important. Dark shadow to lighted surface blending across simple shapes, for example -a marine shoulderpad is still difficult for me to achieve consistently. I know where the light should be (spherical distribution) but always seem to get visually apparent edges between layers. Thanks for asking!

Brush control video would be nice. Diffirent ways to place pigment and such.

David Paz

Thanks a lot for your reply. I will be looking forward your video, Thanks Trovarion! :-)

Trovarion

Yes, I am about half way through editing that video, I definitely want to finish it this month. I don't know if choice miniature matters that much beyond that it is always a good idea to take a new release over a 10 year old model. and spacemarines, always spacemariens.

David Paz

I am very very looking forward the video you told time ago about Golden Demon and what the jury have in consideration. Also, how to choose the miniature wich to present it, what kind of miniatures, requisites, are convenient . Thanks for your work!

Defo consistency of paints and the amount applied.

Trovarion

I have not watched him do it, it has only been described to me. To me it sounds like applying a thicker coat/layer of a (mostly) intense color and then using the airbrush to smooth out the gradient, but keep a lot of the intensity of the layer below. Of course that works best with an AB, but you can also do it with a brush. And no, I don't use an airbrush, I am a firm believer in brush control :) (does not mean i am anti-airbrush, personally I just don't have the need to use it).

Trovarion

okay, i will put it on the list :) personally i only use wetblending on basecolors to get innitial gradients, because for other things I don't find you have enough control over the results. But yeah, with thin paint it doesnt work.

Paint consistency for wet blending is another mystery to me. I've seen several videos that state that wet blending should be done with thicker paint, but no-one explains why that is.

I've heard you make reference to Sergio's capibases technique a few times, and say things like, "this is like the capibases technique." I would be interested in learning more about this technique. Sergio's videos always seem to go halfway, and he never seems to fully explain it. On top of that, he doesn't speak very good English either. I don't recall you picking up an airbrush ever (but then again, I haven't seen all your videos yet). This is a technique I am interested in. I am essentially a novice though. I pick things up quickly, it's just finding the time to paint more. I mostly watch your videos Bob Ross-style, for the pure enjoyment of watching a master.

Trovarion

I am not a huge believer in color theory, but i can give my reasoning behind what i do with these things. will add it to the list!

One Question that always seems to pop into my mind when watching videos. its how you go about selecting colors. In the case of single areas (choosing shadow/base/ highlight) and also overall composition

Trovarion

yeah, we talked about that since a while. Putting it on the list!

How to avoid chalkiness and what to do when it happens. It’s still a problem that creeps into my work sometimes. Also what causes it.

Trovarion

good ideas so far, can think of a few short videos here. thanks! keep it coming :)

Marco Orselli

I agree with sergio... I found my way and I know my "weapons" but I would be interested in this kinda topic. Maybe a video where you specifically show your way to do a part of a mini (no matter wich one, the palette and so on) showing how you solve the problems you find doing it (non smooth transitions, lumps, whatever)

Sergio Blanco Carreño

i am happy with the videos as they are...but i would not mind having a special class about glazes...correct dilution...or differences between the different kind of color brands….how do you treat scale 75 paints...they are a bit tricky...
