For illustrators there are no borderlines. When you have the pencil you decide what a character is going to look like. However, knowledge of real body proportions and bone structure helps massively to play with body freely in later experimentation stages. The above is not extreme example, they differ only slightly, yet visibly.

The right one generally looks better, but the left one is more interesting because we barely see you do that kind of style. I personally would love to see more of the left one, both are great though <3

I like them both, but prefer the one on the right :) The one on the left is very cute. But I feel that the one on the right is more unique.
