2014 vs 2018
🕑 Added 2018-09-11 21:52:19 +0000 UTC In the past few days I met with some amazing artists on FantaExpo comic con, and this got me pretty art blocked. I noticed this is always the case for me - first time I met with Warren Louw made me depressed about my art for months. Then meeting RossDraws, Ilya, Loish, it paralyses me and makes feel like I can't draw. They inspire me every day but the meetings are scary :D This is something I have to learn how to overcome in the future!Well, for this matter I have tried a common thing which is redrawing an old drawing and even though I still think it doesn't look amazing I guess it boosts the self esteem from -100 to at least 0... :D haha

Old drawing is real and I was very proud of it and posted it here: http://fav.me/d7kbque - I definitely lied about the "few minutes" - I was sketching long, then inking and then I found the Photoshop file and it has 20 layers hahaha :D

I've learned that it can be very frustrating at first, but there's this moment when you realize that you actually became better in time, and then you think "ey, maybe it is possible!". It's such a hard thing to understand unless you actually try, and trying implies taking a lot of time, feeling frustrated, anxious, and so on. Most people give up before they can see any progress that would encourage them to continue. Why are people so hard on themselves? Why are we?

I heard someone say once that if you want to do something you can start now and 10 years later be that much better. Or you can never start, and still want to do it 10 years later. Always thought that was good way to look at things. Like you, great artists intimidate me and make me want to give up all the time, but then I realize we all have one thing in common..that we love our arts...because of that we share pieces of ourselves, and because of that, whether it's a 5 year olds picture on a fridge, or an amazing anime image like you create, they are very special. Besides, we get one chance in this universe, one life, no respawns. We should do what we love to do :)
