I'm just not feeling the magic this arc, everything feels quite forced :/

Tarrim

Liv presumably still has her punishment for participating in the fight at the rift against orders waiting for her. Idk what effect her actions here will have on it.

John Koor

Yep. That's all I want. Consequences instead of Isabel's death being brushed aside as just another death. Like I said, I don't want to change what has already been written, just want to make sure the repercussions are realistic to what happened.

Tarrim

Jurian will likely take some political hits from this. Genevieve already calls him reckless and may use this incident against him. Liv may well be punished but she wasn't group leader and Isabel as group leader agreed to this plan. As leader she is ultimately responsible for that choice even if it was Liv's idea.

Tarrim

They all fully met the requirements the only one he would have hand waved was Liv but she passed on her own. They just did the testing at a strange time and maybe in a slightly weird way. It was a crisis and he as acting chancellor of the school made a judgement call to reinforce a rift no one wants breaking containment. That he did so to potentially protect Liv no one knows. As far as we know him having the power to make that call has nothing to do with being an archmagus. Someone has to run the school and it isn't always an archmagus.

John Koor

Their promotion comes across as completely against standard procedure. You have a newly promoted archmage who handwaves them past the standard requirements for graduation in order to let them leave the school specifically BEFORE the guildmaster archmage returns in a few days. The new archmage is disregarding standards to do his own things, and now at least one promising young student is dead for it. His archmage status was contested, and this will be some more fuel on that fire.

Tarrim

One reason she got mana poisoning so fast is she was absolutely not prepared, had no time to adjust, and was probably not in the state of mind to protect herself from the mana. Liv teaching them isn't that bad. They have experience controlling mana. What you are describing would be more like a non mage in that situation. As for him sending them off it's actually standard procedure for them not to have professors. They usually have more journeymen and more experienced ones in a less dangerous rift. But they also were there as support not the main fighting force. They also had Liv with them to ensure safety which mostly worked until they went into the depths. Liv did avert Isabel's death in the stairs by having Arjun be ready. She saw the danger and had a plan for it which worked.

John Koor

Liv deserves the guilt for basically quilting Isabel into going since she was technically the group leader.

John Koor

Ok, Isabel dying is fine story-wise, but I feel like there do need to be repercussions for Liv's decision to go into the depths. To the school, as well as Isabel's friends and family this should be something that ruins Liv's reputation. The girl who briefly fell down into the well for less than a minute ended up immediately getting mana corruption. That should have been enough to convince Liv not to let Isabel or Arjun to go with her. Giving them a 10 minute crash course in mana breathing is not enough to ensure they are safe. It's like verbally telling someone how to drive for the first time and immediately dropping them behind the wheel of a semi already moving at 80mph down a crowded road. It's incredibly reckless and effectively wrote Isabel and Arjun off as being expendable. I'm not saying to change it, just saying this playing out as it did should result in Liv leaving the college and her master being disgraced for sending children off to their deaths with no leadership. Surely a single college professor could have been sent with the kids if the situation was so dire that children were being waived past the requirements for graduation in order to deal with the situation. As soon as Liv saw how brittle the "journeymen" were before even attempting to enter the depths, she should have made the decision to go with only Wren and the locals forced upon her. Instead she didn't argue when Isabel said she felt like she needed to go because she was technically the leader, but also had no way of stopping Liv from going if the locals were allowing it. Isabel dying is realistic, but just make sure the blame falls squarely where it belongs. She already had a near death on the stairs that Liv failed to avert and required Arjun to save her. They should have sent her back up then.

I had the same thing happen. No notification for the last three chapters, but I did get notified about the covet art.

Edit suggestion: "Liv didn’t want to waste what they were caring" /carrying

Seri

Was Isabels death really necessary:(

Jake

“Look, I’m the daughter of a tanner. It’s what my family’s been doing for generations..." Suggested edit: replace 'a tanner' with 'assholes'. Nothing grammatically wrong with the original, I'm just looking for a way to feel less sad about Isabel's brutal death :(

Zaeron

I've also gone through my junk mail and spam filters it doesn't appear to be that either. Double checked my notification settings for you and everything is enabled. What a weird bug.

Italo Lima Lopes

I also didn't get notifications for this one.

N P

Also no email on my end. I thought you might have just been taking a short break, but I saw the email for you other story and decided to check here.

Tarrim

I hope this wasn't largely a wild goose chase Liv is going to have enough guilt as it is.

Kitbashjay

No notification for this one.

dimi1010

RIP Isabel. I kinda liked her. She was sensible. Wonder how the rest of the team would react...

Dave N

I can't find any setting under my control that would cause it

Zaeron

I'm still not getting notifications - this is 3 posts in a row that are missing. Weirdly, I did get the cover art update though. It's very strange.

Tarrim

RIP Isabel.

Dave N

I know some people missed notifications the other day - let me know if you don't get an email about this, I was double checking all the options as I posted it. As far as I can tell there shouldn't be any problems.
