This is my favorite story I'm following right now. I love what you're doing with the overall plot and characters. I can't wait to see where you're going next with the next major chapter, but I also just want to enjoy the moment. I agree with the others that the plot feels thin here. I would love to know what's going on with the Archmages and to see some more guild lawyering at play here.

It might just be me, but I genuinely enjoy your chapters that mix the limited POV, politics, and the interpersonal relationships. I think they are some of the best of the story. So I'd never complain about a few more, where we can see people interact more. As you said, everything is from Liv's PoV, so the only time we really get to see Caspian and what his character is like, is through these limited snippets. His competency as a Guild Master especially. We've only heard other people talk about him for his combat prowess, and we have maybe a handful of sentences from him speaking to base an entire character on. For someone so interesting and central to the organization Liv pledged herself to, I am deeply curious about who Caspian actually is as a person.

The backward votes also didn't make strategic sense from Caspian's point of view.

I had actually worried that @5 chapters on the conclave and politics would be too much - but if people really do want to see a few things fleshed out more, I will see if I can go back and do that once I know what I've got to work with for word count. If I can bring the book to a close and have a bit of room to work with, or even make room in revisions, I may be able to add more development to this section. One of the reasons we don't know what Jurian and Caspian are thinking is, of course, that we're primarily seeing things from Liv's POV. Unless they sit down and talk with her, we don't really get that. But maybe I can find a way to slip some of that in.

Enjoyed scene...But why didn’t Jurian wait to see the outcome of the interogation b/4 intervening?? Or tell Liv to flee beforehand? Why did Caspian do absolutely nothing?? No appeal to Great Council??

it moves the plot forward.

I very much agree, know Liv would be questioned Julian didn’t bother to reach out and see if she had a counter measure, or even talk to her after she was questioned. If he was going to fight why not have Liv flee first with more potential allies around, even if it put third parties in jeopardy, instead of going into a closed room, with multiple enemies to fight another archmage. Further it doesn’t protect Liv, it puts Julianne, Greta, and everyone else Liv cares about, beyond those fleeing with her, in danger. Further those fleeing with her still have families and homes that can be threatened. I don’t know what Jurian was thinking, or if he was thinking. It feels like we’re missing what Jurian, Caspian, and a host of others are thinking or doing, or else they all lost a lot of IQ points, as well as tactical, strategic, and political ability. I would say a rewrite would be nice, but if not that some sort of explanation for why people are acting so far below their previous demonstrated, or implied capacity.

Hmmm... I know I was pretty critical of the prior chapter's plot to get Gen into power with the Guild but... I hope these two chapters get some major revisions, and maybe get pulled into 4-5 chapters instead. There are some really nice plot hooks throughout this arc that are either dropped, or hastily resolved. I'd like to preface the following with this: I have really, really enjoyed the school arc so far. I like the characters, I like Liv's growth and a lot of it feels very natural and well thought out. I don't think these last couple chapters continue that trend. A few of my issues from reading this chapter: Jurian's sacrifice doesn't feel as impactful as it should, considering he is not only Liv's oldest ally in the guild, but also a pseudo-father-figure before her father arrives. Also why he chooses then to suicidally go down fighting against Gen now leaves me rather perplexed. Were there hints that this is how he wanted to die scattered throughout prior chapters? I didn't pick up on them, but possibly. Another issue is that of the Succession issue caused by Archmage Caspian Loredan that is never addressed or resolved. The fact that that doesn't deter the King or Gen really causes a lot of ?'s to me. He's hinted at being this great Archmage and fighter (both politically and magically), but we see none of it. Not here in his conclave, nor during the attack on the Guild that happened when he was gone. I'd really have liked to see him put up more of a fight when the Guild is overtly under attack. He missed the attack from Racita's group, which makes sense due to their purposeful timing. However, it feels very strange that he more or less just lets the Conclave be decided without a fight. Without a compromise. Without anything in return or without throwing a single proverbial punch during the second day. Guild Law & History Class - This was the least relevant, and the most glossed over class in this arc. And here is a golden example of fitting some laws here and there that Liv learns as she tests into the Advanced class. But instead of diving into some the nuances for it (which I think would fit the pacing and theme of this arc really well), we skim over it for a vote that was done backwards (By saying Nay's have to raise their hand, any undecided vote is now a Yay, which is generally not how that works). We skim over any politicking or debates on the issue, which was honestly a LOT of fun when Liv went to the Capital in that prior arc. It just feels like we are rushing the plot forward to be done with this arc so Liv can go somewhere else. Overall, I just hope this gets a rewrite or some significant edits for the book or the RR release. Because there have been some absolutely amazing chapters and character building in this story, but none of it has been in these last few chapters :/
