Furious Scribe

Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback, all. I'll certainly be keeping it in mind when I edit up Book 2 for release later on.

Furious Scribe

That's a good plan, but the current version of Sucking Void only works on the casting summoner or an ally.

We do know why the Prince wants Hull dead. He's afraid his bastard half-brother will replace him.

Knyko

Idk this makes no sense at all. Hes completely outmatched in a duel with their respective decks. If there is some sort of higher power it makes no sense at all to make them fight like this with how unbalanced the scales are. First chapter of the story that i have really disliked so far.

Novice Reader

Man this chapter hurt so much

Evin

Given the duels are actually played by Scribe, the draws are up to randomness rather than narrative decision.

Myrdin

It was said that the Twins go hand in hand, but what was it? Gerad has a ridiculous deck and Hull would never be able to defeat him in a fair duel. At least during the duel Hull should have had the luckiest draws imaginable and Gerad should be the most unlucky. It just feels like bullying a helpless opponent with no chance to win at all. At least the Night Terror is going to be smaller, just like Hull wanted and soon he is going to have all the shards from Ticosi’s deck

Izzay

Ahh then it was truely hopeless. Money is a superpower

RainbowPhaze

The point, as it were, is to make Hull invested in the rivalry, make sure Gerad is still a credible threat, give a sense of perspective to readers who thought Hull might win, to give us a lil more insight into Gerad, and to confirm the implication that the Twins are taking an active hand in Hull's life. Him losing is just the natural outcome of a story where the power levels are real, you can only fudge the numbers so much and a kid playing with Commons is never going to beat Gerad's deck that seems designed to reach full power by turn 4 or 5.

iridium248

Doesn't work against First Strike or Armor. Also the Ghost might probably ping them away.

Izzay

Venom is instakill no? Why did hull not use the hatchlings

Jakob

Man, I get that there's usually a point to these underpowerings of the protagonist, but in this case I don't really see the narrative point and it just leads me feeling disgruntled. We didn't need to learn the motive for why the Prince wants Hull dead, we already new Hull was a rash moron, we already knew Hull had to act against the Prince. Again, I'm sure that there is in fact a point to this but it seeks like a contrived way to underpower Hull when he was already weak and down and boost the Prince, when the Prince could have gotten the upgrade in any manner of other ways. So far this has been the only chapter in the entire story so far where I have left reading it actively unsatisfied. Regardless, thanks for the chapter

I feel like since he was going to lose anyway he should have cast suckling void on the prince and that emptys his mind home then source explode for the sneak damage to possibly kill him and win

Furious Scribe

lol, the image that I originally wanted for the new Night Terror was of the same creature but only two and a half feet tall, looking up at something on a table it couldn't reach, and the tagline was going to say "Careful: it'll slice off your kneecaps." Midjourney wouldn't give me anything close, but I liked this one nearly as well.

iridium248

Ooof, that was a spanking, but not unexpected. Also, Legendary Hilbrand is going to be a real nightmare to fight. The Night Terror looks hilariously grumpy at that table, I gotta admit.
