They already stated in the comics that the pizza teleporter doesn't have the range to reach all the way out to Red's. You have to drive at least halfway back to town to get in range and even then there's no locked coordinates so the pizza could wind up in your engine instead of on the hood of the truck like you wanted.

The crate looks like there's enough wood to repurpose into a picnic table. AND it's clearly stronger than the stuff the previous table was made of.
