I wouldn’t expect them to remember the exact day of someone else’s mom’s death, even a friend or lover, but they should know that her mom’s death in general would affect her all the time and that’s why she’s always angry.

When Nathan and Peyton were talking in her bedroom and he was talking about spending time with his mom she's probably thinking about the mom she could never spend time with also think about how long they were together and him not realizing that it's the anniversary of her mom's death also Brooke who is a her best friend since childhood who also didn't remember
