I actually consulted chat GPT about the Vera chapter. It thought that a visual novel with AI at the lead was interesting, but inevitably a bit derivative because the AI in it was focused on being "human". In its own words it doesn't feel that should be a goal and that it's a very human-centric viewpoint to think AI's would want that. It was important to me to make it feel like Vera was almost as much of a victim as the player character, being stuck in the VR without knowing it themselves. I had originally planned it as an "escape the AI" concept, but it clicked when Vera was technically separated from the meta AI in terms of her motives. I still think my favorite line from that chapter is when the scientist says that "She's as real as you or I", because of the dramatic irony of him actually being 100% accurate, but not for the reasons he thinks.

Because everyone still thinks of AI as a tool to serve us. AI starts wanting something, even if it just wants people to care that it exists, and that makes it an enemy. Every game or movie about self aware AI is the same plot. Then we get all those self aware dating sim games... in the horror genre. And we have the episode in gravity falls which also was horror. Horror horror horror. Vera only doesn't die at the end because ironically, her self awareness still serves our goals for her.

She may be an AI but she was a sexy AI who already showed her full potential in the game but if she does win I would have loved to see an extended ending on what she would have did with those massive boobs that are bigger than her.
