I love how much you love Power of Love. Her getting you to obsess over a nearly 6 minute song might be more impressive than her 5 Grammys (including a aoty win). 😛 If You Asked Me To and All By Myself feel like #1s but they *only* got to #4. also another thing I don’t think people talked about yet is that she’s not singing in her first language. Which makes the emotion she conveys that more impressive.

These performances are pretty tame compared to her non-hits. Declaration of Love shows her as performer and not just a singer. Le Ballet live shows her vocal skills that Mariah nor Whitney posses. River Deep live on David Letterman shows her vocal grit and chesty voice outside of the nasal twang people know her for. Purple Rain again shows her vocal skills including riffs and runs.

you should definitely do discography reactions for Celine and Whitney! and live performances haha I honestly think you’d absolutely love Celine’s albums, there are countless songs that you’d love if you love The Power of Love. she is the Queen of power ballads! you could start with Unison (1990) and do her english albums unless you speak French then you could do them all haha
