Appreciation Post for $1 Patrons
🕑 Added 2020-02-26 00:48:09 +0000 UTCHi everyone!
I got this email from Patreon today encouraging me to get rid of my $1 tier so I can "increase my growth".
I realize this is an automated message and not directed at me persay, but it still annoyed me. So I wanted to make this post talking about it.
No matter how small the contribution, I appreciate you.
There are 286 people here that pledge $1. That seriously adds up for a huge impact! I understand that everyone's financial situation is different, and it can be tricky to support all of your favorite artists on Patreon so I am honored that you decided to support me!
If you have been a $1 supporter for a long time, you might not have noticed some of the new rewards! Check those out and enjoy them ^_^
$1 Rewards
- 1 month early access to all models
- Participate in monthly painting contests (winner gets a custom model by me!)
- Vote for upcoming models
- Organized DropBox folders with 280+ models
- Decorative base versions of models
Sometimes I feel like the $1 supporters get overlooked, so I wanted to make this post to directly address yall ^_^
Hope you have an excellent day, and thank you to everyone here!
Best,
Mia Kay

Just wanted to say I've been lurking this patreon for a while now, but the wholesomeness of this post convinced me to sign up.

You're welcome!! I try to be as transparent as possible ^_^ Thank you for your support!

Thank you so much Will!! Happy to have you here!

Mia. I follow your work and projects. When I found your Patreon I thought. Hey for a buck I can make sure to see all the stuff she puts out in one place. I wish I could patronize every project and creator I like. But reality sets in. And I do imagine that every $1 helps which is why I subbed there. I appreciate the transparency. It’s interesting that they would do this.
Thanks Mia. Agree with Huscar. Having a lower entry point, allows us to try out more, and if finances allows it, increase the level. Keep up the good work.

Having a $1 level allows me to support more creators than I would with only higher levels and to try them with minimal risk. I’ll then often increase to higher tiers later. If they increase the ‘barrier to entry’ I’m sure creators will lose out in the long run. Thanks for being so open with us!

Your work is exceptional and your spirit also - upgraded to $5.50

Thank you kindly <3

Absolutely! Thank you for your support Melissa!
You have such a beautiful outlook. I am going to bump up my pledge to $5.50. The world needs more of this.
I just joined yesterday because you had 1 dollar pledge. Its easier to justify a couple bucks a month vs. 10-15.
M3DM
Haha yup! Those $1 pledges are definitely not Patreon's money maker lol
M3DM
Thanks for supporting what I do Matt ^_^

You brought up some seriously good points! I didn't even think of that!

As an artist, I definitely respect and understand the variable income. I especially appreciate your support! Thank you James ^_^

Ah.. Patreon.... $1 pledges are thorns in their backsides because they are actually very expensive for them to process.

This is exactly why I support you
Well spoken! I agree with everything that's been said so far. What's also baffling me is how bad their marketing here is. They're sending out their no-more-$1 recommendations from a no-reply email address and yet they've decided to give this campaign a very personal touch. If you send out emails that sound like as if they were coming from a real person, you've got to have a feedback channel in place.

My income is unreliable (I work in community health and my hours vary from week to week). Also, I mostly like to back people on Patreon because I like their work and want to support them. I rarely take advantage of any bonus stuff, except sometimes accessing videos and webcomics a day ahead of general release. $1 per creator fits both my budget and my Patreon habits, so thanks for the support. :)
