DEC. ⋆☾~Secret~☽⋆ Sketches

I've got quite a lot this month for you, seeing as I had more time to sketchbook and some select sketches to share from one of my current freelance projects (The Anne of Green Gables picture book).
I have just recently bought the largest sketchbook that I have used in years. I believe it is 8 x 10 in., and I usually do not exceed 5 x 7. It feels incredible to not have to restrict my size, and it forces me to be more spontaneous and bold with my decisions. When I drew Colin reclining (the last image), normally I wouldn't be able to get the details or proportions I want with a smaller sketchbook. I'm also trying a new brand--this one is from Leda Art Supply. Normally I like to use handbook brand. I wanted to try a soft cover large sketchbook and so far I have been having a great time with this switch!

Honestly the "kill your local indie softboy" sprite would make a fantastic tattoo.

The top-right "babies" on page 11 remind me of some stuffed vegetable dolls I have. They have plastic heads but beanbag type bodies. I will have to find out the brand name. They are old. xo

YAY SKETCHBOOKS! Forever my favorite.

Definitely recommend it so far! I had never heard of the company previous to buying this sketchbook but it's been solid thus far.

Love all these sketches soooo much! Definitely going to check out Leda Art Supply. I usually buy Handbook as well, the paper is gorgeous but I find that their sketchbooks can sometimes be too small for my hand to rest comfortably when drawing.

The bird boy is breathtaking! Would love to see a whole story about them!

Minghao is just so pretty and he's so artsy too which I can appreciate--thanks so much!!

This is a really good question/concern. I still feel that way once in a while. I think I just keep adding more elements until I forget about the thing that looks "bad". I also try to keep in mind that this is my practice space and nobody ever has to see it if I don't want them to!

Hehe, thanks Bea. Your comments and kindness make my skies bluer and fill my night skies with stars. :-)

These are all so beautiful as always Jamie! Love the way you stylized THE8! Him and Birdman are definitely my favorites!!

These sketches are lovely! I dunno if this makes sense, but I tend to be really critical of my sketches when drawing and have to constantly move to a new page when I think something looks “ugly”. Do you have any tips on maintaining fluidity in the sketching process? Also, I got really excited when I saw The8. I love Seventeen! Their music videos are amazing!

these again make my skies bluer, so much gentle happiness looking at them. and so happy for you and colin :)
