The only real thing you can do for that is a proxy mesh, the meshes are just too complex or not optimized for the viewport playback. I've had some low enough poly for 30 fps playback, but these ones I don't think you can without a proxy mesh. I pretty much just do test renders to get realtime playback, You can go to view>viewport render animation and it will render whatever viewport mode you're in. The solid view will render very fast, you can also do the rendered view with Eevee and it will render faster than the normal render.

thank you for all the tips! , my main problem right now is that the FPS when i hit space for my animation on the viewport says like 13fps on average , and thats not really ideal if youre animating and want to make sure things are moving properly in real time. maybe you have any tips for previewing the animation in real time before rendering? or do you just render with Eevee then just adjust if it doesnt look right? I have my model textures on the mode where theres no textures and i put it to MatCap mode to lessen render load on the viewport

Hey that's good! I don't know how advanced you are, but my biggest tip is learn the graph editor for adjusting keyframe poses. I started with 3D stuff around 10 months ago, so I have a lot to learn, but the graph editor was the biggest improvement for me. The NLA editor is also important. Also I don't have a discord at the moment but I'll open one eventually. Moving the joints probably shouldn't be that slow, are you in solid view when posing? Sometimes blender is just weird depending on the model. I've had something like a normal map drastically reduce viewport performance. My computer is pretty old and not built for these programs so my viewport playback is usually slower anyways. Also I do all my renders in Eevee just because cycles is too damn slow for me, but I might use a render farm soon haha.

I have really high end PC specs fit for heavy 3D work but moving around the joints in the viewport lags a lot also keyframe playback is around 15-18fps even though ive followed the optimization in MustardUI's guide

thank you! i did a little test animation of tifa giving a look , animation is probably stiff bcs i dont know how to work with the dopesheet in blender yet but render is looking good real fast ! dunno how i can share it here , do you have a discord group?

Unfortunately they have different rigs so I couldn't apply that animation to the new model. I did plan on using the new Tifa model in that same mako reactor scene though.

I still want to finish it. I stopped because the new model came out and I like it so much! That other animation is about half way done though so it shouldn't be too hard to finish it :)
