Well it is both. Mainly parents faults, but without them knowing it is their faults. One thing is that it is very rare for parents to talk to kids like they are not superior to them.

Well, okay: Even though I was in high school when it came out, I never liked the film, since it FELT like it was written by an oversentimental 40-something (which it was) trying to be "80's teenager"-- There's a good film to be made about teens trying to cover up their own lack of identity and fear of understanding the outside world by clinging to their self-created "clique" stereotypes, but John Hughes wanted to kiss up to his audience and say "It's all the GROWNUPS' FAULT!!" (Which is...pretty much what a teenager would say, if he didn't want to think it was his own.)

So excited for this reaction. This movie really helped me understand a lot of good morals and is always amazing to go back to no matter how old it may be getting. It’s really easy to connect with one or even multiple characters. Cant wait for the reaction!
