DevLog Update (I'm Back)
🕑 Added 2018-11-18 00:28:02 +0000 UTC Hey all,So last the last DevLog Update focused essentially on presenting a checklist of things that needed done as well as a transparent justification for taking a bit of a breather. So while I didn't take much of a breather, I've began to slip myself back into the campus world of Zack and Braden again. Mostly because if I take too long of a break, it's really hard to get back into the characters again. For those watching the update progress in the Overview tab, I've completed a tentative outline for the next few updates (around 3 or 4... I haven't made my mind up yet where I want to cut chapters off yet).
Writing of the rough draft for v0.13 has officially started.
So What to Expect
So mixed reviews on the expectations for v0.13 following the events of v0.12. Some people seem to be stoked about the progression of the Zack and Braden while others seem to be concerned that too many "doors" were closed in that update so they're not sure where things could go from here. Well, for v0.13, expect some more (new) stage setting. I purposely closed some doors in the last update because I think too much teasing is a bad thing. I'm going for a balance here. I like questions to be answered and v0.12 really clarified and provided more insight into Zack's character than we've had previously. It also really hints at the major plot line here for Zack's arc. It should have given context to many of his rants, the lack of choices at certain events, and really flipped a few things upside-down on what he is and isn't. Thus, since I closed some doors, we need to open a few new ones as our story moves in a new direction.
I'll disclose that v0.13 starts with a fresh chapter and while I haven't really ever hinted at the chapter titles in the past, I'll confirm that the name of Chapter 7 is tentatively named "Deeper." This should shed some light on anticipated character depth but expect less drama this time around. Zack and Braden will likely process some of what happened in the wake of v0.12 as well as follow-up with other characters that may be curious how things went. Expect this update to be more casual and a return to the normal routine that I've been wanting since before the notorious "shower lie" sequence took place. I want to create a sense of normalcy for a change. Hopefully, those of you who were pissed about that or saw it as "out of character" see the reasons those things happened now. I for one, need a break from the drama and am anxious to see how things play out as things go "deeper."
The new computer should be a strong ally in this update. I about shit myself when I woke up this morning to 13 renders done overnight--the old system would have taken 2 days to get that done. Whether this speeds up updates or not is to be determined. I will say that it's causing me to slow down and experiment with the light a bit better so things are visually looking better than before.
I'm not too far into the writing right now so not a lot to share yet. Just wanted to check-in and let ya know that things are moving forward again.

I'll (probably poorly) summarize the thoughts of others in that the park scene (I'm avoiding spoilers right now because this is a lower tiered post) had a scene many of us have been waiting for. I'll sorta compare this to the nudity in the game. I teased it for so long that when it finally happened, I tried really hard to justify why I teased it. I've seen some other creators (not mentioning any names) that purposely draw games out like this forever and capitalize on the tease factor just to make the story longer so people subscribe longer. While, strangely, I've never been accused of this yet, I wanted to justify that the teasing was purposeful and necessary to build a level of tension in the story. We see this in v0.12 with the park scene. However, I'm with you. I honestly feel like closing that door opened up a ton of other ones that I'm really excited to get into. Hopefully, you know what I'm saying--again, trying to avoid spoilers right now so I'm being really generic.

What doors where closed exactly, seems to me that one giant one was opened up? I thought the last updated was amazing and very realistic...
