Revamp v0.10 Teasers 2

So we have another set of teasers for the upcoming Revamp v0.10. Today we're going to look at 4 sets of teasers.
I'm gonna do something different this time and describe the first pic set (images 1 and 2) together then we'll discuss the rest normally.
Pic 1 and 2: So this first pic set was originally covered in my previous video devlog but I didn't post them in the text version of the teasers. In contrast to previous Devlog teasers, I've been increasingly showing off some of my early stuff that sometimes gets scrapped and this was one of those cases. Pic 1 and 2 here show the first time that Zack and Mikhail sit down to have one of their pool side chats, a later practice that repeats itself and becomes the location where so much of Zack's ability to process his feelings actually happens. To me, shooting this sequence become important and I really didn't know what I wanted to do. The original shots are pretty flat, like you've come to expect from the original game. Mikhail is very rigid, something that greatly contrasts with his personality, and Zack looks like a fucking mermaid. So in Pic 2, this is the previously shown teaser but it's what I'm officially going with. Pic 2 has a lot more warmth to it. We'll be seeing more camera angles that will hopefully feel more cinematic and switch things up a bit. We spend a lot of time in the game here so I want these guys to sorta move around and assume different positions throughout the game while they chat. But this first time I think needs to feel familiar. We have semi-wet skin and wet hair too-- a staple of the Revamp that was greatly missing in the original. Hopefully, you're cool with this shot to showcase one of the foundations of the game. I love these two guys together.
Pic 3: This 3rd pic is from the original and showcases Zack's wrestling flexibility in a movement that probably should have been categorized as actual violence, lol. These old wrestling pics were pulled from some stock poses that were ok with where I was back then but they're pretty bad by today's standards. I also want to briefly mention (and I went into more detail in this in the video log) that we previously saw some wrestling during the Fight Night while the room was dark. In the Revamp, many activities happen at night but I don't want to overuse that so some activities will also continue to exist while the room is still daylight.
Pic 4: This is an example of the dynamic changes we'll see in the Revamp for the wrestling practice in the room. In this pic, we have a completely different camera angle, far away from a lot of the perfectly framed shots in the original that are kinda boring. We'll see some transition shots as well as a much more closeness and skin contact. There will also be subtle nods to Braden's skill level given that he could easily choke Zack out but his hands will always move to safe areas on Zack to ensure Zack is protected and safe even tho he gets tossed all over the fucking place.
Pic 5: This shot is from the movie night where they sit together in the bed to watch Zack's (boring and commercial ridden) favorite unnamed (for copyright) movie trilogy. This shot suffers from the same problems as most of the original shots from the game at this stage: eye placement and the typical grainy lighting. Both characters are fairly rigid here-- especially for what this scene actually leads to.
Pic 6: Like many of the more intimate scenes, the Revamp will have the dark room look and both characters are placed a little more relaxed. I actually imported the original file into this picture-- something I've only done like twice in the entire Revamp. But after that import, we see a few subtle changes to their placement. In this particular shot, we see Braden teasing Zack about something in the movie and giving him a playful elbow jab. There's just more interaction in the Revamp for this scene and they'll end up in a slightly different position than they did before.
Pic 7: This shot is from the original and shows the scene where we meet Mom-Fucker for the first time after he bursts into the shower room like an explosive dick. This has the typical dark shower lighting (and strangely zero shadows at all-- I realized this during the video log and it's almost impossible to believe that I could have that many lights in there and still not cast one shadow, lol). Anyway... super boring shot.
Pic 8: Here's the replacement in the Revamp and our first look at Mom-Fucker in game. I already teased that post about his new look so if you missed that, be sure to check it out. I know this guy is a big deal to people so expect everything to happen like it did in the original but we'll have a bit more use of Depth of Field to help show Zack's concentration while MF messes around and showers in the background. It's a quick sequence but hopefully all the MF lovers out there will be happy to see his official introduction into the Revamped world. Also, let's not forget that Mikhail looks like a million bucks in this shot and I'm in love with Revamped Mikhail all over again ( I know we already saw some shots of him but damn...)
So that's all for today, just a few quick looks at some changes here and this update is looking good so far. Stay tuned. While i usually never say this, I'm hoping for an early March release.

haha. thanks. yep, you're not wrong-- especially early game. the lighting was terrible and i've described a lot of the shots as "soulless" in my audio logs. i love that he's a much more expressive character in the revamp and has tons of wit, sarcasm, and a little more playful attitude

Braden went from cute to cuter in this update! I love the angles and the way he is laughing! In the first version, he looks a little more "dead", so to speak. Really uninterested and tired. But the revamped version brought so much more life into him!

well thank you, you're very kind. things are slowly improving. i dont really realize it in real-time but when i look back, it seems like every update is looking a little better so hopefully that trend continuous. i think these guys deserve to look good and i'm just proud to be part of this process along with y'all <3

Love the New Work, your creativity is shining Sir, in shot 2 Zack has a sweet build, looks like he's been working out with him pronounced pecks and nice washboard abs. the in pic 4 the wrestling move by Braden is really good and creative. Love them all Aaryn your hard work is showing in every shot, can't wait until the new version comes out, I can see so far, it's going to be really Exciting. I'm happy for you, Sir you're truly becoming a Master at Your craft.

the wet stuff is still difficult and i'll be honest and say mine isn't consistent. it's a hard thing to match and when your'e doing the shots solo, you gotta fight the battles you can win. nobody wants the update to be delayed for a month while i try to get photorealistic wet spots. lol. I'd be ok with that because it would look good but it's just not realistic from a development aspect. in terms of wrestling: I have not. however, i'm big into mma and martial arts stuff. so while i'm not get at the wrestling aspect, I'm good with takedowns or arm placement, reversals and stuff like that. i dont like fighting or watching street fights and stuff. I'm a very peaceful person actually. but i do like the sport of mma and sports fighting when there are rules. there's a lot of technique there that's really fascinating once you learn what's going on. Mikhail overlal is just a vast improvement and he was already like my favorite looking character (i have a type, lol). and MF's hair is still the same. His eyes are different and he has a new skin texture with some freckles and stuff

Getting the wet look right is something so many people struggle with: usually the characters end up looking oiled or paved in droplets, which is not how wet human skin behaves at all: it's waterproof, water beads then runs off. What you've achieved with Zack in the pool frame works - hits of wet, but not oiled. And yeah, the wet hair is a great look on Zack, and possibly the single thing that bugged me most about the original. Do you, or have you, wrestled? It's not much of a thing at school level outside the US, but you seem to understand how it works - or you're doing a good job of bluffing! The skin on Mikhail's face just looks infinitely better in the revamp. Shot one (old), he looks half-ghost. Although the "Look at me! Look at me!" of the tattoo-framed nipple makes me giggle - gonna have to get used to that! Does MF have new hair? Or is it just the angle/blur?
