0.4 Development Update 5

v0.4.0 is now in beta. If you have beta access, grab it. If you don’t, it’ll be in early access in a week. There are a few minor changes there compared to alpha, new main menu, stuff like that. And there are still some map-related bugs. Nothing too major, just that the girls are showing up in the wrong locations for some of the events.
This week I was mostly finishing minor stuff for v0.4.0 and fixing bugs. I still need to do more, but all in due time. The outlines for v0.4.1 are done, minor spoilers, Cait’s second subplot will get introduced with a few events, and one new event for Lyriel. All are short- to medium-length events. And there will be two minor sex events. But, like, really minor.
And I’ve been poking and tweaking sprites again. I still don’t like how sprite-based talks look right now. So I tried something a bit different. Have a look:
I think it’s better. Not perfect, but better. There is a problem with the differences in girl’s sizes. Naomi barely fits into the frame, but Rae is really smol. I’ll probably have to have another few goes at it. What do you folks think? Please comment, like and subscribe. Well, you are already subscribed if you're reading this, so just comment, I guess.
Don’t have new renders as I haven’t started working on v0.4.1 yet. Will try to get it out in one week. We all know how it usually goes, but I will try real hard, promise. In the meantime, here's the new main menu (yes I am proud of it) and a couple of renders from v0.4.1 for those of you who don’t have beta access.

That's the thing, Naomi's actually farther from the camera than both Rae and Cait in those shots! But overall, I agree, it's not the most important thing in the game, but I really hate how those minor sprite talks look right now, and I want to make them look better. No point in changing something bad into something not much better.

Yeah, Naomi is bigger, but even when she's farther from the camera she barely fits. And yes, this was a debug build, Cait's name wasn't initialized, didn't even notice. :)

I think I see what you mean. The shots with Naomi feel like we're noticeably closer to her than shots with the other 2 girls. But, that took some serious studying to notice. During dialogue scenes, most users are going to be focused primarily on the text and unlikely to notice anything but the most blatant errors in the images (except during the sex scenes, obviously). YOU have attention to spare for visual cues because you already know what the text is going to be in a scene. We read it enough to understand what's going on and the nuances, then move on to the next line.

imo the size difference makes perfect sense, since Naomi is bigger than the MC (?). and did you forget caits name? :D
