There is evidence for that same problem happening with facial recognition as well, with white males being the main models for them. Then again, technology nowadays sucks too; so, there's that. I used to live in LA's backyard myself. Fun times! Absolutely correct when discussing American accents. All accents in the US have variations that make them unique. You will certainly find others who find it an annoyance, but I am not one of them. All accents are beautiful, and the melting pot of cultures that make up the US make it strong. I appreciate your words, Tigerlily, and I agree. Consent is absolutely important in all facets of life. Thankfully, I am not around those people anymore. I would like to think that the corners of their furniture are avenging me, but I'd rather not waste my mental resources on them. We all should start a writing circle and draft out our memoirs! Nah, fam! I have a friend who is a programmer… His theory is that most programmers who program the dictation capabilities or voiceover stuff are white, and male. So they have a very average American accent. And girl! I live in Los Angeles. There is no such thing as an “average American“ accent. Even though I was born and raised here, I have a bit of a Korean accent in my English. I need to try really hard to mouth the words carefully in order to sound “American“ although, it’s really funny when I’m trying to dictate something professional… And it ends up being very dirty. Happened to me more than once! Now that my supervisors know my situation… They tend to just laugh it off. Thanks for your comment sweets! I hope you have as a beautiful day as you are! ❤️

I've delt with my fair share of bullies in the past. Heck, one of them even tried to strangle me. Thus, I too clench up a bit when I see characters like this. I don't care who Duolingo sends, I am not doing my French lessons... WHY HELLO... er... Salut! I appreciate how you approach bullies, Storm. Most of the ones I have encountered in media (and, to a degree, in life) have been either uncompelling jerks or one-dimensional caricatures. In contrast, your voice has so many layers to it. I can almost feel how done she is with the listener, but this emotion doesn't just switch off when she starts to warm up to them. It almost combines with a feeling of encouragement to create something that sounds complex and alive. Utterly brilliant! Thanks for the lesson, and I hope you're doing well at your new home.

Thanks for the PTSD storm! Lol! ❤️ in college there was this French girl who literally got in my face about my American French. In my defense, I wasn’t trying to speak French. It was those French words that was stolen by American people and was pronounced really badly. Etc. Foyer, buffet. You know… Those words. She got angry at me because I wasn’t pronouncing them correctly. Only later to find out that she was angry at me because I had asked her friend to go watch “wicked“ with me. I had an extra ticket because I knew the stage manager for the show. So she got angry when they didn’t ask her the second time. When I found out, I wanted to get into her face and just yell “if you really wanted to see that show Maybe say yes the first time I asked you!“ God! I do not miss my early 20s. Was it weird that I kind of got defensive when the speaker was belittling my French accent? I had a friend who spoke fluent French and he told me my accent wasn’t that bad. Who would’ve thought the voice theater degree would’ve helped here?! Lol! Except, it doesn’t help me any when I’m trying to dictate anything on Siri. WTF?! Lol!😂
