🕑 Added 2023-06-07 16:04:47 +0000 UTCHey friends!! A little light clickbait for you this week, because "action economy" is simply not a sexy and clickable phrase π But I've been learning a lot about it and I've become convinced that it's maybe THEE most fundamental skill for DMing combat!
I've been moving away from any mechanically-focused topics this year, since I wouldn't consider it a strength of mine and I'd rather my channel be focused on storytelling and play, but this is just something that's been really helpful to me to learn, so I wanted to highlight it for folks who, like me, haven't ever looked into it seriously.

Yep β Legendary Actions, Lair Actions, and Environmental Actions are great for this, but unfortunately aren't available for most monsters that your party faces in tier one and two. I mention that at the end π

This, I believe, is the reason for Legendary Action and other disruptions to the Action Economy. A boss that calls or summons help is a great move.
