Hidden Hazards of Halogen Lamps
🕑 Added 2023-01-29 18:32:01 +0000 UTCI have some old halogen flood lights that I used as studio lights in some of my early videos. I remember the manual mentioned that they must not be used if the glass cover is damaged in any way. But the manual did not mention why?
Warnings without telling about the serious consequences are not very useful in my opinion. And since I still use halogen lamps in my house, I guess other do to.
So I have made a video about the hazards of running halogen bulbs without a glass cover. There are several health risks - including an invisible long term risk.
Watch the video to find out about it!

Yes, but not sure when. The issue is that I don't have a fixture for the 1500 watters, and with the import ban in EU they are not easy to find. I may need to build my own from one of the fixtures I've already got.

will there a video in the future with the 1000 watt and 1500 watt halogen bulbs?
Thanks, Bo :) I have a lot of different bulbs but no krypton bulbs. May look for some, though I am much more interested in a deuterium arc bulb with an impressively wide spectrum (just so expensive...). As far as I know the krypton is mostly there to increase life span - not change the output? But I have no experience with them as I don't own one :)

Good video as usual! 👌 Have you thought of comparing the output between halogen and krypton bulbs? Krypton bulbs have a better lumen/watt output than their halogen counterparts. What I think could be interesting, is to see if there is a difference in the UV-A, B and C levels! Cheers Bo
