He will use ramscoops to go beyond. Instead of quantity he goes for quality. (His soul looks deflated) Skillpoints are tied to lvl and lvl is tied to blues/paling/system. I don't think one can system level outside the system. One can only build cores, make essence, improve body and learn skills the hard way. That is how i understand it.

Callum Rhodes

What do people think will happen when he reaches his cap in essance? Will be be able to just go past it? Will be actually gain a level and a skill point? I'm kinda wondering what exactly needs upgrading in his soul to gain the extra skill point.

Callum Rhodes

Loved the chapter. Sorry about the computer trouble, I can commiserate, having some myself. I was on Rains side, wanted to see something happen when he unlocked all the trees! Oh well. Can't wait to see their very peaceful holiday in nadir. Nothing will go wrong, nothing at all...

Skeln

Ive had throwbacks to the Nadir people of David Gemmels Drenai Saga throughout the entired chapter^^

Cirvante

Free-roaming blues are rare, although it depends on how many awakened hunt in the area. The delving near Vestvall was probably untouched for centuries if not millenia. In a massive ranked zone like the Badlands, a dedicated team like the one that took Jamus and Carten with them can probably find one within a month or two. Most blues are found in lairs that are cultivated to spawn more blues quickly, since awakening is a valuable commodity. Since Xiugaaraa has so many lairs around and under it, almost everyone in the city is awakened. Free-roaming blues will most likely get spotted, then captured and brought to the city to awaken seven children or aspiring crafters. Like the fledglings for example, they were awakened with level 15 blue iirc, so it had to be a captured one outside of a lair. No unawakened can hope to damage a level 15 blue afterall.

Alex

I'm sure the question has been asked, but exactly how common are blues? For as many awakened there are, and I'm sure it's not a huge amount compared to the population at large, I feel like they should've run into the situation of a "wasted" blue at this point, there but with no one appropriate to take advantage of it.

WannaBeATree

I doubt normal people can detect essense, maybe only notice how their ressource withdrawals don't last as long? It would need to be a strong instinct to go sleep in a monster infested place, where you need a team to survive. I think it will come down to comfort and opportunity for silvers. Mora did like the chitin-squirel-sausage or something. Could be that certain monsters taste better to higher lvl people. Those are usualy location dependant. Add things like a sauna like in this chapter, grancryst drops and divers factions present and you might be right. There could be a lot of them here. My guess is 20% - 60% silver population. Bronzes only for menial tasks(inside city), training(fewer sozlstrain problems) or waiting for a blue.

Cirvante

Ain't no such thing as a harmless goldplate. He should have expected it from a former dueling champion. I wonder how many silver and above awakened live far below the surface in places like Nadir and rarely ever show themselves. I mean, with how thin the essence density in Xiugaaraa is, silverplates and above should instinctively want to stay in Nadir because they feel better there.

Cirvante

Yeah, he needs to rebuild his armor after he wrecked it during the whale fight.

Simon

Loved the chapter. Thank you !

Chimmy

Excellent chappy!

wanderer117

Or most monsters have common classes while most awakened that make siver have at least uncommon or better.

Random Information

They're all awakened, so they've all got a paling that helps protect them to some extent. Presumably that's enough.

Enkelados

Hate to say it, but kinda boring chapter. Nothing really happened in it.

His Dad

I dont see how the fledglings or Mora or the Beards survived the trip. Ambient essence level are deadly--Said way back when they did "Biome" and said directly now: "At rank thirty-three, the essence pressure here was too high for animals, but plants had no souls to be crushed"

Kyle

Yeah pretty much lol

Random Information

"With a safe base of operations in Nadir, I’ll just need a few weeks without drama or interruptions." Probability of that = 0.000001%

Random Information

"There was a power bump at silver where awakened gained ground against the monsters" It seems that Bronze, Silver and Gold distinctions are not a characteristic of monsters. You estimate their power by their level.

Nick Pincus

Not a barrier mage but close to that.

Pocket Rikimaru Thanatos

Seems like the Depths have a much wider pool of awakened and methods of doing stuff that seem to work quite well.

Random Information

If his mother is also an Illuminator - can Illuminators get to Gold, given that they don't seem to have any fight skills at all?

Random Information

I presume Nadir is the low-point of the City of Lights? That is how it got its name?

abowden

Tallheart could use a sack of grancrysts. All the crafters could, really. Especially once they hit silver.

Conor McGroarty

How old is Legruz? I would imagine he is in his early 30s at least. But with awakening you never know. His mother should be gold though for certain.

Marwolaeth

Dang, grampa is grumpy

Gnossos

Hmm no bank drama yet. Okay. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Gnossos

Rain makes a withdrawal?
