Oddity Archive: Episode 287.1 – Ben’s Junk: Epiphone ED-100NS Acoustic Guitar (+ Annex Posts)
🕑 Added 2024-12-23 15:21:21 +0000 UTCThis doesn't go public until Thursday, but, admittedly, I wanted to be able to take Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off completely, so here's a little premature Boxing Day post. The idea was that I wanted to get my hands on one of those old Esteban/Home Shopping Network guitars. But, as it turns out, by some bizarre fluke, they seem to have held their value over the years...so, I just dusted off my first steel-stringed piece of firewood.
Also, here's a few Annex posts to lead us up to New Year's:

Just a heads up, there will be no new OA (per se) next week, Instead, I'll give the latest "State of the Archive" address.

Loved the video Ben. This is what you did Elderbush Gulch on . It would be a good guitar to learn on, just to see if one is going to stick with it. Merry Christmas and I hope the new year is better for you.

Hope you and your family have a good Christmas.

I enjoyed the look back at 'my first guitar' in this video, it (almost) made me miss my first guitar(s), which are long since gone. I remember struggling with the same issues of intonation and dead frets. Those beginner instruments are kind of cruel, maybe they're meant to separate the wheat from the chaff? One struggles with a beginner instrument for years and then finally, when they feel 'good enough' to get a 'real' instrument, they learn it wasn't entirely their fault for sounding so-bad for so-long! Anyway, merry xmas.

Getting to hear Ben play the guitar is always a treat, even if it's just a little bit, on an uncooperative guitar.
