"What brings you here, Mr. Malfoy?" Dudley asked, welcoming the man into his office.
"Nothing remarkable. Merely an investor in D&D Bank, intrigued by its affairs. I hear your American expansion has met resistance. I may smooth the way—my contacts are extensive."
Investor? Since when?
Dudley eyed the man in silence for a while. He used to believe that Lucius was an intelligent, smart man. But now, he wondered if Lucius really underestimated him because of his age.
Does he really think he invested in the bank? All he did was put money in the bank to earn interest, that's it. He owns nothing—Ah! He's probably confused by the contract lingo I made.
“I’ve had a word with the President of MACUSA,” Dudley said coolly, gesturing to the chair across from him. “Have a seat. I could use the insight of someone more experienced."
It was hard to digest. He despised Lucius Malfoy to the core. He wanted to torture the man and kill him slowly like one of those cartel videos. He wanted Lucius to watch him destroy Malfoy House, a piece at a time. He wanted to see fear on that smug, proud face.
Soon… Very soon.
"Of course." Lucius waved his arm, gathering his droopy cape before sitting down, setting aside his cane. "Before I offer my advisory, we should perhaps re-discuss the partnership."
There is no partnership, you cross-dressing shit.
Dudley raised a brow, acting surprised and conflicted. "What do you have in mind?"
"I would like to invest more and hold a greater share of the bank. I see a great future with you leading it, and I'm willing to use my contacts to further our combined interest. Beyond fifty-fifty partnership, I'd like to increase it."
What? What fifty-fifty, ah! He's talking about the return on personal investments. Dudley sighed, finally understanding why Lucius believed he owned half of the bank. The contract he'd made before talked about investing the gathered money from nobles and the profit generated would be divided between the bank and the account holder. Sure, he did play word games, and there was a tiny, fine print at the bottom of the page that most ignored.
Dudley was no saint. He was in it to make money. More the better. And he had no love for the pureblood wizards.
"I… How much do you wish to invest, Mr. Malfoy? I won't deny, I do need funds," Dudley responded, struggling with each word. It was all a lie, he didn't need money. He had more than a dozen Malfoys combined.
Lucius smiled diplomatically, and waved his right hand. "All of it—I wish to acquire seventy percent of the bank."
"That's a lot of gold." Dudley reminded him.
"Naturally, I’m prepared to transfer all assets to the bank. The Malfoy estate, accounts, and businesses will ensure D&D commands greater influence. Gringotts is a behemoth—we must expand swiftly, lest they find time to strike back," Lucius advised while laying down his offer.
On the last part, Lucius was correct. Gingotts had remained silent until now because of their extreme pride. Once Gringotts started seeing D&D Bank as a threat, retaliations would ensue.
Still, Dudley had to act like he was flustered by that offer. Conflicted even. By giving 70% of the bank to Lucius, he was effectively giving it away to the Malfoy family. Of course, that was Lucius' misunderstanding. The man was no more than a simple account holder in D&D Bank. Now, all he needed to do was keep misleading him.
"If… If I agree, I want a clause added to the contract. Should the Malfoy family ever decide to sell their stake or change hands in D&D, I get first rights to buy." Dudley suggested; a simple tactic to make it more believable. "And I would like to keep on running the bank. D&D isn't just a wizarding institution. There's a Muggle branch under the same name, one that will bridge the gap between the Muggle and magical economies, creating vast wealth for us both."
This sly bastard. Smiling just at the mention of wealth?
Lucius inclined his head slightly, his tone crisp. "I see no need to replace competent hands, Mr. Dursley. Your achievements speak for themselves, your father would have been proud.”
This bastard! Dudley controlled himself from punching his annoying face.
“Very well, your terms are accepted. Let us proceed."
Quickly, Dudley rang the bell and called for Penelope. Then, the contracts were edited, and Dudley ensured he kept Lucius busy talking, never giving him the chance to read the hidden fine print, the same color as the page. But it was there. He knowingly talked about the threat of Gringotts and how they might retaliate. He talked about pureblood status and whatnot to keep Lucius riled up.
Soon, right before his eyes, Lucius signed the papers, fifteen in whole. He deliberately made them too many to read, taking inspiration from those future internet applications agreements that nobody read and just clicked accept.
Hah! I pity you, Lucius. I pity what I'm about to do to you.
"Congratulations, Mr. Malfoy." Dudley extended his hand.
But Lucius haughtily ignored it, barely hiding the disgust on his face, and stood up, grabbing his cane before turning around to leave. "I have a meeting with several American families. I will address this matter with them. Expanding into America should no longer pose a problem."
What a disgusting man. Dudley pulled back his hand.
Every time he tried to shake hands with Lucius was a chance given. For Lucius to prove that he wasn't as rotten. Sadly, the man had proved his pureblood tendencies lavishly.
"I shall wait for good news, Mr. Malfoy."
The proud Malfoy patriarch nodded and left haughtily, robes fluttering like a woman's frock, hair straighter than a fashion model’s.
"Hah…" Dudley leaned back in his seat. "This isn't enough… I need to have magical America under my thumb as well."
I have to make them dependent on me.
Feeling the urgency, he decided to prepone his plans for the UK. Quickly, he dialed for Edwin, who was outside in a different lavish cabin.
"Edwin, arrange a meeting with the Prime Minister for when I get back. I'll have only one day before I’m due at Hogwarts. Be straightforward. Mention a potential multi-billion-pound investment, but leave it at that. No need to over-explain."
How many men in the 1990s could pour billions into private sector investments? Not many. Swaying the magical world with just money was hard. But the Muggle side was entirely a game of money and connections.
"Ah, and tell him to meet somewhere else—his office is under wizard surveillance."
After a moment, Edwin gave a few options. "If it's secrecy you want, we can go ahead with the London mansion you bought. Or the golf course."
"No, not the mansion. It could stir up too much trouble. The golf course will do, and I’ll have the entire clubhouse and course reserved for the day. My security will handle the rest." Dudley ordered and hung up, crossing his arms behind his back.
Quietly, he stared at the world map on the wall at the side.
Soon, my actions will make all my future knowledge useless. It's time I build a castle around me, one that I only can control.
With some free time, he started scribbling on a sheet of paper. Artihmancy was his cheat code, and the best thing about it was that it could be used on seemingly anything. Predicting a slot machine in a casino? Doable. Predicting the weather? Doable. Predicting the economy? Extremely hard, but doable.
I can't do all this alone.

Dudley received a call from MACUSA the next day, and instead of using the Portkey, he used the normal, Muggle method. He took his personal jet to New York. He used that time to read the materials that Penelope and Percy had gathered for him. It detailed the current wizard situation in America.
"It's almost like back home," Percy explained. "Most of the assets are owned and controlled by a few old families. While pureblood madness isn't that persistent, a class divide based on wealth and history is present. Squibs, as always, are at the bottom. Then there are the first generation No-Maj-Born wizards. Then there are Half-Bloods, and finally, the old wizard families who have consistently produced wizards for over two hundred years."
Dudley kept flipping the pages. "What's the employment situation for these lower class wizards?"
"Barely any. There aren't that many magical industries, and those that do exist belong to the old families. The No-Maj-Born and Half Bloods have to seek employment at MACUSA, or at these companies. MACUSA is the first choice as these companies don't really pay that much. If I have to draw a parallel, I'd say, Muggle America is in the 1990s, but Wizarding America is still stuck in the 1890s."
"Not much different from the UK," Dudley muttered softly. "It's good that the Wizards' Council is pretty much like US Senators or Reps. Representatives from magical communities all over North America are elected to MACUSA."
Confused, Penelope decided to ask the question. "What are you planning on doing?"
"Hah… What else, I'm gonna throw them some bait."

As he'd expected, President Aiyana Blackwood failed to convince the Wizards' Council to allow the bank to operate. She looked tense and annoyed that day.
Uh, I hate politics.
Dudley listened to her explain until the end before starting. "I anticipated as much, Madam President. In the end, personal interests always take precedence. That's precisely why I've devised an alternative strategy—one that ensures a win for all parties involved. Not just the Wizards' Council, but for you, the Muggle government, and, of course, myself."
"Which is?" The stern woman looked back at his face, as if trying to discern the truth.
Dudley didn't feel any mental probe. It would have been utterly unprofessional and irresponsible of her if she had done that.
"What's the most important thing in life, whether you're a Muggle or a wizard? Magic? Prestige? Food? A grand house? No, it's money. I’ve gone over some figures, and the current Muggle-born unemployment in America is a staggering sixty-three percent. That’s just Muggle-born. Half-Bloods, on the other hand, sit at forty percent. Better, of course, because the old families prefer them for their businesses."
President Aiyana narrowed her gaze. "Get to the point, Mr. Dursley."
"I'll create jobs for everyone! American No-Maj-Born, Half-Bloods, No-Majs. I'm prepared to sign an investment MoU with both MACUSA and the Muggle government, of course. But that’s contingent on my ability to establish a bank here. The Muggle branch is already up and running in this city. It’s the magical side that’s giving me trouble. Even the French and Australians have come on board, but without America's cooperation, the plan remains incomplete."
He originally didn't want to get into manufacturing industries. But after seeing Vanguard Group, he was tempted. Magic was one convenient tool that, if used wisely, could make almost anything easy.
She's tempted.
Noticing the President's curious expressions and calculative gaze, he hoped for good news.
"How much are you willing to invest?"
"Don't ask me that, Madam President. Ask me how many wizards I can employ. And the answer is, the more, the better. You need to grasp the bigger picture. By founding D&D Bank, I'm uniting Muggle and wizard banking, opening up new opportunities for wizards to thrive. Similarly, by integrating Muggle manufacturing with magical skills, I can provide jobs to nearly every unemployed wizard in America—provided, of course, the Muggle government grants me land and the necessary tax breaks."
President Aiyana shook her head. "IWC will never allow you to do that."
"Why not? I'm not violating any laws. Half the workforce will be Muggles, the other half wizards. The facilities will differ, of course, as will their roles. But in the end, what matters is the money—everyone gets their share, doesn't it? And I'll have Professor Dumbledore onboard too. He's involved with D&D Bank, after all. Not to mention, Mr. Nicolas Flamel's also on board."
"What? Why wasn't this mentioned sooner? That could have changed everything with the Wizards' Council!" President Aiyana raised her voice suddenly, a first in front of Dudley. "Uh… You're young, I suppose you don't know. Dumbledore is well respected in America. And Nicolas Flamel is a legend. If they’re backing the bank—I’ll give you my final answer by tomorrow."
Wait? Really? What the… Why didn't I do that earlier?
Dudley internally frowned, cursing his lapse. He never really thought about using Dumbledore's name in America because the country was simply too far away and big. Knowing how Dumbledore struggled against Voldemort and how nobody came to help, he reckoned the US simply didn't give a damn.
"I'll wait for your response." He stood up to leave.
"Wait! Is that investment proposal real?"
That ship has sailed.
"Of course—I do wish to buy a few American companies and start manufacturing."
"Very well, that makes things easier. I'll see you tomorrow."
Even before Dudley, the MACUSA President left, but not by walking. She simply vanished from her chair in a sudden black mist.
Man… I should learn apparition too.

All that happened 2 days ago.
Once interests were tied together, it was easy to convince politicians. With something to gain for everyone, Dudley received his final approval to set up a wizard bank. Behind the scenes, Lucius believed it was because of his connections.
Similarly, President Aiyana connected him with the Governor of Texas as Dudley needed large parcels of land where he could employ Muggles and wizards both, but still separated.
However, the negotiations and money matters were left to Edwin. Dudley returned to London the very next day and headed to the reserved golf course to meet the PM. This was his first time meeting the man, as Edwin dealt with the British side of politics before.
But for what Dudley had in mind, he needed the PM onboard before going any further. If the PM refused, it was better to wait and nurture someone else to rise to the top. The UK was a small country, once rich, now in a slow decline, and Dudley wanted to turn it into his fortress where nothing could happen without his knowledge. Of course, in return he planned to nurture the country's economy and create a relationship where, without Dudley, the economy would collapse.
Straight from the airport, guarded by the Vanguard Group members, he rode to the golf course. The Prime Minister's security was already present there, and from the looks of it, the man was also there.
"Make sure nobody can hear us," Dudley ordered as he got out of the car and walked straight into the clubhouse. Sure, he got searched by the PM's security first. He didn't like it, but he ignored it for now.
The entire golf course was deserted. Even the staff wasn't there, and in the distance, the Prime Minister was playing alone with a golf cart behind him. Dudley also rode to the man after drinking some potions to make his voice deeper. He also sprayed on a potion that helped the other person relax and lower their guard.
"Morning, Prime Minister." Dudley grabbed a golf club too, although he'd never played it in either of his lives before.
The Prime Minister, brown haired, looked back in surprise. "Morning… I… didn't expect you to look so young."
Dudley chuckled and used his altered deep voice. "I hope a man's worth is gauged through actions not age."
Prime Minister, Tony Blair, chuckled and nodded. "My hairline may be thinning, Mr. Dursley, but that's a sign of my improving wisdom, hah! So, what can I do for you?"
"We, Prime Minister. What can we do for each other." Dudley grabbed a few golf balls and started practicing like a rookie. "Word must have reached you. The MoUs I signed in the U.S."
Woosh!
The Prime Minister took a shot as he spoke. "I did. It’s all good for international relations, but it’s a blow for us. You must have seen the headlines today. Capital’s fleeing London, and they’re pointing fingers at me, even though this is my first time meeting you."
"That's precisely why I asked to meet with you. The MoU was nothing more than a gesture to calm things over there. This place remains my home, regardless. Yes, you inherited a robust economy, and it's seen steady growth, but I've done my own bit of work to assess where we're heading."
"And what's the evaluation?" The Prime Minister asked.
Dudley stopped playing and took a serious tone. "Should I sugarcoat it or say it bluntly?"
At that, the man also stopped playing and looked at Dudley. "In the matters of economics, sugarcoating never helps. Go ahead, Mr. Dursley, break my heart."
"It's rather grim. The sun may be shining now, but when the new millennium arrives, we're in for a rough ride. The signs are already apparent, and they're only going to worsen. Personal debt is climbing, mostly tied to the housing market. Our manufacturing sector is on its last legs, and China’s gearing up to dominate the global market. Our trade deficit will keep expanding. Productivity is sluggish, and the rounds of privatization we’ve seen have only benefitted a select few.
"The competition on the world stage is intensifying, Mr. Prime Minister. Soon our national debt will eclipse a hundred percent. The economy will stall, real wages will shrink, and living standards will continue to decline. We've become a service-based economy, and global shifts—and crises—don’t favour such economies."
"We did well despite the Asian crisis," said the Prime Minister.
"That's because our presence in Asia has been minimal. Our financial sector is solid, but as globalization advances, we'll inevitably lose these advantages," Dudley replied and started playing again.
"That's precisely why I wanted to speak with you. I'm aiming to bring large-scale manufacturing back—focusing on industries of the future: cars, batteries, semiconductors, and tech that demands heavy research and development."
With Wizards, Dudley truly believed that he could push the core industries by a few years. Displays, batteries, semiconductors, computers. Magic could be used to avoid losses during experimentation. If a new developmental battery suddenly exploded, a wizard unit just had to swing a wand and rewind the damage to test that same battery again with different settings. The same could be applied to everything.
Fuck future Samsung and Apple. Dudley thought. He didn't want a piece, he wanted the whole damn pie.
The Prime Minister stared at Dudley's face to see if he was serious. "What's the scale we're talking about?"
"I want the entire port-town Plymouth. I'll turn it into an industrial city for future tech manufacturing." Dudley plainly stated. "In time, it will eclipse London in economic influence. The window is closing, Prime Minister. Miss it, and we lose the industry. Tech is no different from aircraft development—you build it from the ground up, improving with each generation. You don’t simply wake up and decide you’re going to craft the world's finest fighter jet overnight."
With a conflicted expression, the man shook his head. "Exciting, but I can't help you. You should speak with the local bodies of Devon. If it's land you want—"
"It's not the land, Prime Minister. It's the government's outlook that's the issue. I doubt you can even begin to grasp what I'm suggesting. Once I establish these industries, each will be worth hundreds of billions—possibly even trillions. Ridiculous, isn't it? But not to me."
"Tax break? Is that what you want?"
"I'd welcome them, of course. But what I truly want is a government-backed policy shift to promote the tech industry. Schools, colleges—every institution should be pushing computer science, coding, anything tech-related. I can fund research, yes, but I can't change the focus of universities alone. That’s where the government comes in."
"We're already doing that."
"Not enough. You’re aware I own most of Google, aren't you?" Dudley prepared his final weapon. "If you can ensure a policy shift, I might just advise my future investments to register in the UK. Many already do, we’re practically an unofficial tax haven, but there’s still plenty of room for expansion."
"Hmm…" The Prime Minister silently pondered for a while. "I see where you're coming from. You're proposing a sort of Silicon Valley here. It's a great idea, but I’m just the Prime Minister, not the whole government. And if politics is known for anything, it's the lack of flexibility. There’s a saying: 'If it isn’t broken, don't fix it.' The economy's doing alright, which makes it hard to argue for something as big as this."
"Don't worry about the others. I'll manage them. What I need to know is if you're onboard," Dudley asked directly. "I'm certain you'll secure another term. When you retire, there's always a lucrative advisory role waiting for you at one of my companies."
The Prime Minister scowled. "Are you bribing me?"
"I call it career counseling." Dudley shrugged.
For a moment, silence fell.
But then the man laughed. "Haha! Career counseling, eh? That does sound more appealing. Alright, I'll give it a go, if you're so sure. After all, you're practically the poster child for capitalist success in the country. Let's see how far you can push it."
"Great." Dudley threw away the gold club and shook the Prime Minister's hand. But then Dudley also took off the glove and started walking away to the golf cart with the man.
"Not interested in playing anymore, Mr. Dursley?" The Prime Minister asked.
Dudley shrugged. “I’ve never played before. Today’s the first time I’ve even held a club.”
"Haha!" The Prime Minister laughed heartily. "Me too! That's why I arrived early, just to have a bit of practice. Should've said something earlier, we could’ve had a proper cup of tea instead."
Dudley chuckled and drove away with the man. He had a feeling their partnership was going to last many years.

Easter Holiday was over. Dudley reached King's Cross on time and boarded Hogwarts Express right away. The train was mostly empty since barely any students went home thanks to the Triwizard tournament. The final task was just a few days away, and this time, he had finished all the preparations.
Once the train started moving, Dudley walked out of his empty cabin and started moving across the carriages to find any other student. The journey was many hours long, and alone, it was boring.
"Oh?"
Whistling to himself, just as he was passing by a carriage near the end of the train, he saw a silent figure sitting alone inside a cabin. The rest of the carriage was empty, it was just her, sitting legs crossed, already in her Hogwarts uniform but without the black cloak, blonde hair neatly combed and tied in a ponytail behind, a few locks falling down as she read a book.
"What are you reading?" He startled her with the sudden question, opening the sliding door of the cabin.
She looked up at him, her big, blue eyes icy, but her brows were relaxed, as if pleased to see him. She just raised the book and showed him the cover without saying anything.
"Hmm, Potions Against Curses, that's a new one." Dudley walked in and sat opposite to her, looking at her face above the book's edge. “Didn’t know Ms. Greengrass fancied coming home for the holidays. Such a filial daughter."
Daphne chuckled and turned a page, not even looking at him. "There are many things you don't know, Mr. Rich."
What a mysterious girl. Why'd she even ask me to be her Yule Ball partner? Well, she did help me meet Mr. Greengrass.
Just then, he had an idea.

A bit unethical, but with the intent to just read her surface thoughts, he used Legilimency. But it wasn’t easy as she never looked up at him.
"You looked stunning at the Yule Ball, you know." He complimented, and as expected, she glanced up at him for a quick moment. And that was enough for him to hear her thoughts.
Don't look at him. Don't look at him… uh, I'm looking. Why did I have to see that… Uh… I can't get that image out of my head. Let's just read.
Dudley read all those thoughts, but he also saw the image that she was talking about. It shocked him a little. It was him shagging Hannah in the woods from a few months ago during the Hogsmeade visit. And… Daphne had watched him and Hannah all the way till the end.
So, she has a crush on me or what? Hard to believe it. Dudley pondered. While he considered himself pretty handsome and tall, he didn't know if Daphne, a Slytherin, would have an interest in him.
Let's give it a shot.
It didn't feel right to use Legilimency, so he decided to play with her a little.
"Where did you go that night after the dance? I looked for you," he asked. Daphne had left the dance hall as soon as they had stopped dancing.
Suddenly, Daphne's pretty, pale cheeks blushed, and her delicate thin brows creased. She uncrossed her legs and squeezed them together. She quickly hid her face fully behind the book.
"I went to sleep."
Hard to believe with all that.
"Come on, it's boring with nobody to talk to." Dudley abruptly shifted and stepped right in front of Daphne. At his full height, he leaned forward, putting one arm on the cabin's wall, his face staring downwards. Daphne also looked up at him, her eyes shaky.
Then, he grabbed her book and took it away. Still, Daphne stayed seated, as if stunned, eyes locked. Seemingly not realising her book was taken away.
Yeah, she's into me.
Now, there was a dilemma. Did he consider Daphne a kind person? Not at all. Was her family among the good ones? Not at all. Should he date her? Not at all.
But this… he was interested in. Daphne was cold, hard to approach, but she was among the most beautiful girls in the school. Her waist slender, her hips flared out in the skirt, her pantyhose clad legs fleshy and soft to look, her chest full and her face—angelic.
"What do you want to talk about?" Daphne finally voiced. It was visible. She was controlling her tone to not have a shaky voice.
Let's try a little bit of healthy flirting.
"How about…" Dudley suddenly leaned further down, almost 90 degrees. That way, with his one arm still planted on the wall beside her head, his face came closer. Then, with his other hand, he softly pinched her warm chin, "Let's talk about how beautiful you are—What's the secret?"
Daphne visibly gulped. But she didn't swat his hand away. Instead, her eyes constantly looked into the gap of his normal shirt, the top two buttons open, revealing some of his chest. Then her eyes looked down at his pants, a pair of jeans.
No words? Then…
Dudley leaned in close, the scent of her skin drawing him in; clean, soft, and something vaguely floral. His lips hovered beside her ear, his breath warm and thick with intention. Then, he dipped his head, just close enough to sniff her. Slowly, he inhaled the subtle musk of her neck.
"You smell like trouble," he whispered, the words dripping off his tongue like dark honey, meant only to make her squirm.
But just as his lips nearly brushed her ear, Daphne moved, smooth and sudden. Her delicate fingers traced the edge of his jaw, guiding him just that inch closer before she moved forward, lips crashing into his. Her kiss was breathless, like she’d been waiting far too long to let go.
Dudley froze. His eyes wide; caught off guard. He hadn’t planned to kiss her. He’d only wanted to tease, rile her up a little, pass time on the train.
Did she think I was going in for a kiss?
Her answer came in the way her body shuddered. It wasn’t a tremble from nerves, it was something else. Daphne Greengrass, the ice-cold Slytherin who rarely showed emotion, was burning inside. Not innocent, not pure, but sexually starved, desperate for release. There was tension in her, deep beneath all that polished calm. And in this moment, he was the match that struck the flame.
This is… unexpected.
Thinking fast, Dudley flicked his wand from his sleeve and swished it toward the cabin door and the interior window, the ones that faced the hallway. The blinds dropped with a crisp snap, cloaking the inside from wandering eyes. A locking charm clicked into place. They were sealed in, alone in their little moving box of lust.
“Ummmh…” Daphne kept going, her lips working his like she needed this to breathe.
Her eyes stayed closed, her face angling and pivoting like she was afraid to stop. Her lips pressed hot and slick against his, but she didn’t go any further, no tongue, no deeper play. Just feverish lip-on-lip, every brush of her mouth begging for more, but still too shy to demand it.
Her arms came up, sliding around his neck, fingers trembling as they twined into his hair.
But then, she opened her eyes. Realizing it was only her who had truly leaned in, her rhythm faltered. She broke the kiss, breathless and flushed, eyes wide like she’d snapped out of a trance. Her pale face blushed red, lips parted, chest rising fast beneath her blouse.
"I-I'm sorry… I didn't meant to do—"
“No—” Dudley caught her wrist and held tightly. He stepped back just a little, tugging her toward him, keeping her close. Then he sat down on the cushioned seat behind him, guiding her into his lap like she belonged there. “I liked it.”
At his words, something broke open inside her.
Daphne straddled him in a heartbeat, knees slipping to either side of his thighs, her skirt sliding higher with the motion. Her lips found his again, but this time, she was unrestrained.
