A new Visual Novel System, Made by Unreal!
🕑 Added 2024-07-05 12:52:58 +0000 UTCHello, gentlemen. I have good news and bad news to share. After two months of slow and agonizing development, I've created a simple Unreal visual novel system. I appreciate your patience during this process. To test its functionality, the next episode of MDLSNGBD will be made using this newly developed, crudely made system. As for the bad news, I was too engrossed in fixing the system, which may delay the release day of the monthly episode, but I promise the release date will be on the 19th of July or sooner.
And, considering MDLSNGBD will soon end, I've been thinking of doing the next secondary project based on the visual novel system, and to your surprise. I've implemented functions like renaming characters to redefine their relationship with the player; I'll skip the detail so you can imagine what could impact the player experience.
I've attached the file under the post. Please test it and tell me if there are bugs so I can better understand the system's flaws. I'll also open up an elastic polling section about what kind of theme you'd want to witness in the visual novel, so if you feel bold, feel free to fill in your thoughts in the comment section, and I'll include it in the pool.
PS. The dialogue in the system is poorly designed; I only write them to test the system. Also, the log system is a bit junky.

Frankly, I would have liked to see my favorite series in a new system, but as I said, it will be necessary to reformat the previous episodes, which will take a long time. If it was in a new system or in an old system, my series would remain a favorite.

I'm still deciding whether to include Lunar Soul in the visual novel system or keep it the same. Moving to the new system will also require reimplementing the previous episodes to maintain consistency, which will be quite a laborious task.

The Save Slots function is indeed essential, so I've added it to the system and reuploaded the file in this post. As for the main menu and pause menu, they will have to share the same interface on this update; I'll give them the respective interface soon. Thanks for the pointers; I shall continue to perfect its functionality.

It's a little rough around the edges, I like the animated sprites and the look of menus. The keys typing per every dialogue might be a bit much. As for menus in function, I wish the saves/load opened up a save slot menu, sort of like how Renpy games usually do saves. I know this isn't very polished right now, but presumably the start menu will differ from the pause menu? (as in the continue would load the most recent save on start, but when paused, resumes where you left off.)

I liked the new experience, I think it is good. As you said, the settings are not good, just the settings need some improvement, everything is good. How will he be in the Lunar Souls series?
