> “No.” She blinked at Tian, like he had asked the single dumbest question she had ever heard. Ah yes, the 'tism is strong in this one.

BelligerentGnu

The fact that supportive teaching, kindness, camaraderie, all these things, are not just valuable but the superior cultivation method is one of my favourite aspects about this story - and also very possibly unique.

Martin Toder

The room had a braiser of incense burning in an iron burner covered in a latticework of cranes in flight. 'brazier'

The guy introduced like three chapters ago.

Who is Wang? I dont remember him

Simple Squire

That’s not what I got out of it. Brother Fu advancing showed them that Elder Rui was on to something (and they already knew that to a degree since the West Temple Outer Court gets more resources), and so they now are implementing some changes. Sending Tian and the others away is because the other Elders are wary of Rui’s political clout growing further and him “[pushing] through even more dramatic reforms”. From my point of view, they are finally acknowledging that Fu and Rui are right and changing something’s about the sect, and the Elders just don’t want it getting out of hand and Rui going off the rails.

Christopher

So the other elders realise that the sect is failing, and instead of trying to emulate the success seen in the west outer court they are doubling down and sticking their heads in the sand because of face. Typical failing sect behaviour 😂

Christopher

I thought that too, but I also thought that the Ancient Crane Monastery was the weakest of the sects in the area so they probably aren’t rivals of Sword Peak

Leaf

You did it you actually introduced a fatty wang. I can already tell he’s gonna be such a bro.

matthew strong

Feels kinda like the first sect in NSHBA. Just in that that's the only wuxia story I can think of that has a reasonable sect master or 2. I thought i was seeing some of long chen's first master is brother fu. Perhaps they are more redeemable, perhaps less and it's all a trap. I forsee sectlessness for Tian. Maybe hell gather some followers but I doubt hed care too much to lead them, atleast for a WHILE. Book 3 he goes and begins healing Book 4 he wanders around mostly sectless Book 5 he acknowledges some of his old friends from thiss sect and starts paying some attention to some of his followers. Book 6/7 he breaks the heavens. Idk if theres more. Someone made the heavens this way and grandpa is somewhere.

Adunn

I disagree. They’re too similar to a detriment. I’d actually argue they have zero chemistry because of that.

Fatty's irreverence vs Tian's social scripts will be fun

Edmund C.

Things must be bad for the sect to move away from treating their disciples like Gu. Exited to learn about these two new members to the team. The Elder said they were iconoclasts, so they must be pretty disillusioned with things. Bold for the sect to put its faith in four moody kids.

Steve Wright

Brother Wang’s adept summary of the situation made me cackle.

Steve Wright

The battle-scarred librarian who can match Tian stare for stare in a conversation. She’s kinda awesome.

Gerald Ransom Jr

Im blanking, who is sister su to Tian again?

CentaureHeart

Kinda seems like Sword Peak made a deal with the Heretics to destroy a competitor, and then betrayed the Heretics to kill 2 birds with one stone...

BaguaBrady

Agreed, and to extend your analogy, upon seeing Fu as gold... They realize they were all rusted copper with a thin gold paint on top

Garrett Therkorn

"Grandpa, what does all of this mean?" "A downtime arc, Tian. A chance to find treasures beyond the sect, and experience new soups." "Grandpa, no more soups, please..."

Holy crap. Cultivation masters recognizing their mistakes and trying to correct them. No no no. This can’t be happening. I must have read wrong. Everyone knows sect masters are just villain side characters that are wrong, never change, and only serve as obstacles for the MC. I need to go sit down and rethink existence. TFTC!

Veridescent

I did cackle a bit at this. The Dao is infinite and the depths of mortals correctness and wrongness may be akin to flipping a coin.

Mikołaj

Where is the grandpa though?

jack

Honestly good job for the Sect Master recognizing a problem and trying to fix it. Alot of these guys are too arrogant to change anything like the other sect elders

rwn

Hooray we finally have a Fatty Wang in the story!

_mori

The previous one was the graveyard of someone else I highly doubt the sect will even dare to claim.

_mori

“…The reactionaries wanted to send you to Sword Peak because they only have treasured lands and challenge grounds suitable for sword cultivators. Useless for you. I was able to force through a change in destination.” The politics aside, does the sect not have its own treasured lands?

peak

TeDureShi

I had no idea Sister Su was so significant. It’s kinda surprising and cool. She definitely has nice chemistry with Tain

_mori

“You know why we are doing this and why now. What do you have to be grateful for?” Oof. Sect has to be in really dire straits for this loss to put them on the brink. Maybe it’s not that they’re overly careless, just that they’re too weak to do better with their EPs or deploy more HPs. Either way, it seems like they were looking for copper in cultivating the outer sect but found gold in brother Fu.

Thanks

But no pressure!
