Johan Persson

Love this so much. The Sect has trained countless geniuses before him, they know how to adapt to the dao.

LiteWvr

Cue lawyer meme with a crane pasted over his face

Graethmer

Thank you for the chapter! 🫶🏻

Scarlet Aurora

Tian in the future: "I happen to be an expert on bird law."

Abhi

Cranes can eat snakes. So thats what it means by the flower in a lake with good food.

Stylemys

They keep talking about how the she likes his smell. But he smells like a Dustless Lotus, and don’t they lure in prey for the snakes in the pond to devour? Tian is a trap and the princess is falling for it.

Duck_Giblets

I hope it throws them off some terrible ideas. One was discarded.

Duck_Giblets

Good point. Redemption arc be nice but cliche

Diarmuid McGinnity

I won’t turn down the chance for another beautiful character arc tho. Remember Hong’s introduction? That was about as bad as it gets

Tom C

Protecting their own skin? Makes sense

TITLE SCREEN

Tom C

This is great for tian and all, blah blah blah. I would prefer it if he went into it with his eyes open. Realising he’s being manipulated by Feng or whatever. But tbh, that Lin character can get fucked. It is annoying that they expect tian to rebuild bridges when the onus should be on her no? She’s the one with a chip on her shoulder imo. Kinda hope she either has a serious personality reset or just dies cos she is awful. Interesting to see how tian handles this! TFTC!

Christopher

I think I would like to see the perspective of Lin; the elder needs to lean on Lin, who was the shitty person from the get go. Why should Tian and Hong have to reconcile with the rock thrower? Lin was the problem the entire time.

Leser

Thank you for the chapter

Vainirion

“Tian chose not to elaborate”. Why is this line so good? Either my sense of humour is really poor or this is peak comedy, because I’m cackling. I am tipsy, but it doesn’t/shouldn’t change a damn thing. People on the train are giving me a funny side eye, kinda like uncomfortable dogs, and I don’t care because it’s more fun than it should be.

Andrew Simpson

I desperately hope that Crane Law become a recurring foil for our young socially incompetent hero.

Alex Nimmer

All in on Crane Law.

G

Not her. It's what he has done, first with himself rising from beggar to the most promising junior and his stunt as a monk becoming a deity.

Venerable Ro

Tian lacks all sense of ambition and it's throwing them off something terrible.

Diarmuid McGinnity

If he has a bloodline I’m thinking it has something to do with his hands. A diabolical inherited palm art maybe? There has to be a reason for the fixation on his missing fingers

Horst Reicht

Sadly we're getting closer to a world in which we can really "constantly create new chapters" - not from a flesh replicant, but a replicant fed with all previous inputs and outputs of the author. Generative AI/LLMs are exactly "best" at that, just luckily not good enough to replace Warby all that soon. Good enough to already spam the Amazon book sections/etc with stuff that diverts/grifts money away from human authors, however. Once the tech gets through the uncanny valley, plausible enough and specializing it with all of an author's writing, biography, etc starts to become really easy? Maybe we'll wish to live in a world where all that money was put into making ever more processed foods instead...

Steve Wright

Basically the comment I was coming to make. If you can’t see where the money is coming from, then you are the product. Maybe partnering the Crane Princess with Tian is the best way to advance a new super-crane, and that’s worth it to the sect. And why are they so insistent that Tian and Lin get along? Excellent mystery to ponder, there. (I know what she said, but she is both an executive and a diplomat, both jobs known for their ability to make words mean what they want them to mean. I have a hard time taking her words at face value.)

RainbowPhaze

Many people are in the comments saying "This is perfect for him, exactly what he needs" and I'm reluctantly sitting here thinking about how the elders are manipulating him into this position and responsibility. Granted, it IS good for him, but they clearly have their own interests in insisting even after he shows no inclination.

BaguaBrady

I'm thinking Senior Crane is very very high up in the sect structure, or even above it

William Johnson

"Reconciliation between the two of you would help prevent serious future political problems within the sect, which means your father won’t have to worry about you or be distracted from the work he is doing now." By which we mean Direct Discipline Fu won't find out you were mistreated by one of the Inner Sect families and decide to go a little bit Mad Dog.

Jeryd Greer

So excited for this

FuriousDee

Hopefully Hong will come with him

Jacob Goodwin

What's the point of living in 2025 if we can't clone the author and have his flesh-replicant constantly create new chapters. All we get super-sonic thermonuclear hydrogen bombs and processed food starch... boring.

Ben Nikel

OK, that "your job is to do whatever" transitioned rapidly from "Go out and play" to "License for Xianxia Bullshit." She even said "alongside the rivers and lakes." Though also, "raise a beggar to become the local hegemon" sounds ODDLY specific... Is that something she's done before?!

Mikołaj

I think Grandpa could have passed out from joy. Finally he will have total freedom.

Noah

I’m hoping the Crane has some input on the reconciliation process!

Reed Icculus

More fascinating is *what* exactly they might have imagined him to be. Also, I would like to add that "cursed and discarded" isn't proof positive of his humanity. Any creature might be cursed and discarded. His own family might not be aware of any latent Bloodline from an animal, beast, or heavenly creature. Such things do not always show in one generation, and should they not, a parent is unlikely to burden its offspring with the knowledge that it is not qualified to be a, for instance, dragon, or phoenix. Phoenix is my bet, actually, given his desire to fly, and to heal, with his great connection to wood Qi, the element that is life and does burn.

William Johnson

Okay, but how does Hong Liren fit in to this? Dao protector?

Alexander Dupree

I read it more like a bit of hyperbole than any actual worry about deaths. She doesn’t seem concerned enough for that to be super literal.

William Johnson

Nah she (the bird) is a Siberian Crane, their faces are just like that. I'm pretty sure Lin is just a people who's having a rough period and kind of sucked to begin with.

Stylemys

So the Little Monk really did get a crane companion.

austin kutz

Tian isn't even remotely ugly anymore, just missing a couple of fingers at this point.

zombie

Am I the only one that is 90% sure that Lin is the crane? The reason why the crane has plucked feather (bare faced) because she lost "face" before Tian. Lin likes animals more than people and looks with longing at the cranes. Besides, how both Elders talk, there is ambiguity when they refer to Lin or the crane.

Len

surprised no one has commented on the "i am surprised they have not killed her yet" comment by the elder. Tian and Lin will get along, Eventially, she needs to get the stick pulled out of her butt. now the question is...how many chapters it will take for them to be friends, Tian is a bit of an unique person.

Hammy

haha Love their responses to him. haha

CMA27

I wonder if the mad god leads the heretics and how everything will tie back together.

jack

Man I thought he would say no out right.

Xeophyn

I'm curious as to Tian's approach to reconciliation. Right now all I can imagine is him aggressively offering tea repeatedly and increasingly odd situations.

João Vene

They looked up his past and didn't find shit? That's interesting. Is that Mad God interference or heavenly luck? If they found out he was from the clan that got wiped out (by the Hongs), what would happen to Tian?

C

The elders checking multiple times to see if Tian is human or not is deeply amusing to me.

Together_Comic

Its so funny how Tien consistently upends peoples expectations. Do doubt they expected him to jump at the chance and he's like why do I get assigned all this extra work.

Tyler Price

Well, it is the Ancient Crane Monastery, and they may be hoping he helps raise the next Senior Redmane. On top of him being seen as the future of the sect, giving him the freedom to grow and slightly direct that future seems rather smart from her side.

BelligerentGnu

Tian' occasional bouts of denseness shouldn't be so unexpected, but they often are.

Noah James

this is shaping up to be another fantastic character arc. Lin reconciliation + freedoms + a bird that is just as ugly as Tian.

Matt

*Xianxia version of "I Believe I Can Fly" starts playing*

Diarmuid McGinnity

Very interesting. What does she get out of giving him his dreams on a silver platter?

pierre boucheron

Such scrutiny for a humble unremarkable junior.

Elias

Man they really did think of the perfect opportunity for him. I hope that he still spends a certain amount of time in the actual physical sect, though, because sect dynamics and mentorship are aspects of cultivation that I feel go underexplored in most xianxia.

Adunn

Idk working with lin would be a dealbreaker for me. Is hong able to tag along as well?

Tyler Price

I can’t believe it but what a wonderful elder to see exactly what Tian wants and needs and offer him a path to it

Pranshu Dhungana

Can’t wait for this new arc! Thank you for the chapter

Alexander Dupree

Thanks for the chapter
