That would be immature even for Hong and Liren. And they are children.

From this chapter I think they genuinely should start calling him daoist shiteater as one of the comments suggested. It sounds like something Tina and Liran would do.

Desert Rainbow

I think that's the hallmark of a good story!

I thought dragons were associated with water? Though you are right they are seen as surpassingly Yang. The tiger might be Yin? The surpassingly Yin beast is the Phoenix/Vermillion Bird, associated with fire. I think the tiger is asociated with metal? Which is Yin gathering the same way wood is Yang gathering. But then again I think there is a proverb or something about dragons and tigers fighting, something like "the dragon descending contends with the tiger ascending" or something like that. So maybe the tiger is supposed to be Yang and the dragon Yin? Hard to say.

William Johnson

New tea pets just dropped!

James Faulkner

Time to meet our first dragon!

Raymond Mouton

Thanks for the chapter.

Though in reverse kind of like mortal air the actual key to using seemingly superfluos knowledge seens a pedalogical limitation. The Dao is in everything at all scales, and so in principle as one cultuvates by accumulation there is no reason immortality shape wiuld be the same in the future vs the past for in the end its a concept of accumulated symmetry. I do wonder given how key perspective is and the bevvy of folk beliefs likely to be around historically if there are any cultivator anthropologist. Documenting and observing different perspectives patterns of history. Though given the orthodox dynamic some fair odds such records may not be available or destroyed as being heretical.

maybe. going by that...premise, possibly mountain= earth tea pet cloud air/lightning dragon fire tiger water/ice. if that is true, then liren gets tea pets? one argument against this however is.....how are they not STARVING/statues like in the Saintess's Cave?

João Vene

That, or this was all within their expectations, and Brother FU is just offscreen in case they need a rescue. Tian and Liren already went through a very similar trial when they met the Saintess, so the elders might have believed this wouldn't be that wild for them... and they'd be right, since Suneater is dead and they're making out of there with a bunch of loot

Summer Coff

Who wants to bet those are "true" tea pets

zombie

My attempt to make sense of it all: The elders expected the cave to be the grave of two cultivators, ying and yang. Instead, a upstart young master had eliminated this couple and entrapped their spirits. The elders have accidentally sent Tian and Hong into a trap and now they have two mad spirits on their hands.

They forgot. A truly petty man would also rig his treasures to kill anyone who tries to claim them.

“I’d go with you if you left. I would try to persuade you to stay, but I’d go with you.” Liren’s voice shattered the air, clear and strong. Tian smiled. “I’d stay, for you. Though I’d try to persuade you to go.” Too cute!

Len

i am not entirely sure either, however, tiger for Liren(cold air = Yin) Dragon for Tian(Fire=yang though he does yin fire in compassion) crane gets lightning? that treasure are DEFINATELY spirits of some sort...

Hakurei06

That doesn’t sound good.

Andrew Goebel

Pandora's tetrahedron?

Joshua Flowers
