Nine, eh? So we can assume Tuan, Hong and Burning Heaven are included. I presume Elders Rui and Redmane are as well since they’re significant side characters. Elder Deepwater is probably in there, as is the crow, Brightheart, and their companion, so that would make eight. Was anyone else mentioned these last few chapters? Other than a mention of types of birds, I can’t think of any.

These last two chapters have been awesome, that last was the spiritual and mental condensing of everything he’d learned, ans this was the physical, so good!

Fair, some more slight indications of her own changes and struggles might have been nice to give us some characterization now that she displays more obvious sophoncy.

I love this chapter in that we get to see Tian's gains and ofc, the 'is he even human?' vibe at the end is one of my favorite running gags. One thing I found incongruent though is the lack of mention of Burning Heaven until the very end - to me, even with the stress of the challenge she's someone he would look for after he got out of the illusion. Since we've barely seen her go through more direct challenges, to me it wasn't a given she'd make it through either round (even if narratively she should be on their level or stronger, we just haven't seen much of that on screen)

Great combat writing in this chapter after not having an extended fight scene for some time. Can't wait for the world to continue to grow larger in the next few chapters. Haven't been this excited in a while!

I wonder how close Tian’s is to Heaven realm now, his combat insight has now reached peak of the earth realm too I gather. Him forgiving his dad and pursuing Loren has somewhat settled his heart. I think his revelation will come once he decides his personal “mission” with the sect, it’s the only internal conflict he has. The Sparrow or top tier heavenly beasts will have great insight to share with him in that regard

I just had the weirdest, most out of concept thought: would that make him kin to a certain guardsman? One that is actually human, but has to carry a note from the midwife to prove it?

Heh what is a cut if not a conection. A discontuity rather than a severing. If Yin is accumulation somewhere is death simply not that accumulation happening around a new nexus? Yang pushing and shaping those new paradigms until they explode out again. Very fun bits of ideating the concepts this time. Also wonder if the Sparrrow relates to Liren.

I'm guessing the emmisary is looking for who will push past their limits, not just raw talent for violence. Tian finding a new level to his skills is what qualifies him. I imagine since (IIRC) he and Liren are the only earthly realm cultivators present, that the others faced challenges more aligned to their level.

Something I really have to praise is the feeling of not knowing the height of the mountain. Many Xianxia attempt to convey a feeling of mystery about the true power houses of the world but few ever make it work on both a story and world building level. Your story however really captures that idea of unimaginable heights.
