Swiss Jeez

It's interesting to think what Ibrahim's first loops must have been like. It seems like he was under threat since the moment the loop started. He probably had to fight the whole way to the apocalypse...I wonder what he felt when he finally made it all the way to the end.

FuriousDee

Well we may get to question their leader a bit earlier

Zurko

Very true, but if they start looking they could find it like she did. They can have access to all the same things she did. The ninth binding is in their dreams if I remember correctly.

Mr NerfGun

Wait... There is nothing stopping the Preatorians to go seek Atrah Xidi now with Ibrahim gone this loop...

Sam I Am

Isn’t it possible that there is already a focus out there that was made with relicarium? The church doesn’t know about all of the prophets, so maybe there are other relics that they don’t know about as well. Maybe, in the future, she’ll just have to teach Ibrahim the 9 bindings. Just a thought.

FuriousDee

Even if the other prophets learn about relicum how likely is it that they have a complete version of the binding that Mirian had to recreate?

UraniumPhoenix

Magic in this world is using something called the "arcane force", which can be freely transformed into different kinds of energy. In a lightning bolt's case, there's arcane energy constantly fueling the production of electric energy, so it's going to do some damage, but the closer it gets to the resistant target, the more arcane energy is nullified before it can transform into electricity. It's not really a true lightning bolt forming the way a thundercloud would create one or, say, a downed power line. Most direct combat spells attack the target directly, so are vulnerable to resistance, as the myr rating you need to create something that has a proper after-effect is rare (e.g. you need a Praetorian to replicate what a small artillery shell is doing, and an archmage to replicate a big one), but that does get around it. A spell creating a detonation near a target will still send a shockwave and burst of heat that spell resistance doesn't do anything about. Doing this for electricity is difficult because at their tech level, they still don't quite understand how natural lightning forms, so Mirian wouldn't know how to change the atmosphere and ground's charge to induce natural lightning. Therefore, the easiest solution for her is: Rocks Fall, Ibrahim Dies.

Mr NerfGun

Magic question, wouldn't lightning spells ignore people's spell resistance as the electricity wouldn't really be magic anymore?

wintersky

That was my reading of it too. Even if he wasn't, he's definitely met one; he knows far too much about time loop mechanics for it to be otherwise.

Mr NerfGun

I wonder if Ibrahim managed to make himself bulletproof...

Brian P.

Yes, I don’t believe her teacher of dervish stances even has a focus. He has to touch Mirian to see her soul as I recall.

Mr NerfGun

Can the Dervish stances still be used without a focus?

Lena During

She just got a ton of memories back. Memories shape the personality of a person and she basically just started grieving for her mother, making it easy for her to relate.

FuriousDee

If he could heal her soul with a celestial focus Mirian just needs to bind one to him using Relicum. I think that would probably be worth it but hopefully she can bind it to him without revealing how she made it. Though given how the church knows about it that might be too much of a tell.

Metal(Liz)ard🏳️‍⚧️

Now that she knows her past and real name i wonder if she'll try and reclaim it somehow and maybe use her old name again

AntiClimax she her

Was is my imagination, or did Ibrahim imply that Atrah Xidi was the 6th prophet?

AntiClimax she her

I like that Ibrahim believed that all the prophets had their own task, which probably isn't far off from the truth. It really just seemed that he didn't want Mirian getting in the way of the task he believed was his. I think that he is someone that she can trust in the future, assuming his talk with his wife goes the way Mirian assumes it will. And if she gives him the tools to actually save his wife, she'll have an ally at least until Enteria is saved, and probably beyond. If he manages to save his wife he will fanatically fight to save the world.

Robert Mullins

It's not really a matter of power. He doesn't start the cycle with a focus so no matter how good he gets at healing it is useless at the start of the cycle. Until Mirian teaches him how to use relicarium.

Apoca

200 cycles and Ibrahim did not think once "Hey, my wife still have 1 breath in her. I will become so powerful I will save her". I am sure that Mirian could save her at this point if she starts the cycle there. If there is a gate beneath Rambalda then she could do it still. Or if not she could learn how to do it in 4-5 cycles.

AlecL

Honestly for Miriam to have the grace and presence of mind to handle this convo as she did is immense growth for her. Sure it’s strategic, but I could see the Miriam of even a few cycles ago reacting very very differently

Luna

HHHHHHH! amazing series of chapters, i am crying

Danidreye

I love this series. I love how you are setting Mirian up to be a character who doesn’t just need to fight to get what she wants. I’m so happy to see that she is still human enough to take the path of humanity when she can.

Aifhwinx

Amazing chapter, thank you, very cool that Ibrahim did in fact catch onto Mirians name, and just generally excited for the plotline we're onto now.

Raivshard

😂🤣

Edit she “said.” and carved away a thick chunk of the ceiling, figuring a rock the size of the matriarch drake would do. Said, or Said . is not needed or change to ,

DrSubterfuge

Oh man. That was heartwarming, but I can see it now: "I asked her and she wants them all to burn, too." And now he has the means to talk to the overseers of the gates once he finds them. At least Mirian is still in a very good position to speedrun the gates, but all it takes to beat her to her dad is contesting the authority she currently holds.

Robert Mullins

Yup. It's certainly understandable that she considers it risky but it would probably gain his support and regardless of whatever else she did if he ever discovers she intentionally is keeping thst information from him then he will become an enemy.

iloverugs

There is a way to save Ibrahim’s wife. Teach him soul magic and healing, and tell him of the substance that allows one to bring objects, such as that healing focus, to the start of the loop. That’s a big secret to give to a dangerous man though.

Mountainking

Miran should eventually teach how to bring a focus back in time. That way he could save his wife. Probably one of the best ways to get his loyalty. And if he finds out without her telling him, it would break his trust.

Robert Mullins

Ibrahim's love: "Kill those sons of bitches. Whatever it takes. Make them all pay." Mirian: "Oh Fuck....,shouldn't have done that . I should not have done that."

Lena During

Ok this went WAY better than I expected. Depending on what his love wants, it could still go sideways but at least she has not made an instant enemy.

UraniumPhoenix

Fixed, thanks.

Edit Despite his hatred of his old mentor, “he” saw Rostal’s steps echoed in the other Prophet’s. She

Ahhh I love every piece of this. Thanks for the chapter
