aghh cliffhanger

Javier David Aros Nuñez

I do find Jherica suspicious, and he is the best positioned to cause max damage to Miriam in case of betrayal.

Milo

I understand your feelings but I have to say that I disagree. I like that it feels like an unending battle with no real ‘victories’ to be had. It’s what makes the magic of this story feel as real as it does. Real science is full of these massive timesink data gathering activities that don’t provide results for a long time.

Mr NerfGun

She shared it with Liuan. But she didn't have the expertise to understand it and probably couldn't memorize it.

Gernot Bahle

Hm, small thing, but I think Mirian actually didn’t share Blink with the others. Maybe it‘s existence, but not the spell. I think there was a line about not having to worry about contesting ownership over the gates yet because the others don’t have easy access.

sparkc

“Right now, it was like she could see the fruits dangling off a tree, but couldn’t pluck them yet, and her mouth watered with anticipation.” Low hanging fruit!

Ace

I wouldn't exactly say Mirian got played. She still doesn't trust Liuan and she did have a possible explanation. It's more so that Mirian doesn't have proof so she can't just go around accusing Liuan without putting herself in a bad position and showing her hand.

Kali2025

It be a funny anime like plot twist if Scebur is Jherica, only it's that the RID/the doc that suppressed Mirian's memories managed to make some sort of deep cover split personality mind control spell. Maybe the deep sleep assassination spell was a failed mind control spell and healing Jherica "fixed" it.

Mundane

There is not another looper, Liuan has invented Scebur as a way to cover and misdirect her own actions. She will also use it to justify why she is not doing more just like she did in this conversation. Mirian (and many readers) got completely played. I am really looking forward to seeing how this all comes to a head in a future loop.

Mar

This stuff with the leyline data has been going on for ages….I tire of it to be honest

UraniumPhoenix

Here, she's specifically measuring how toxic mana from spell engines degrades and binds with other nearby mana. If there is an error, though, I'll definitely fix it

lenkite

I am surprised that Mirian hasn't being measuring anything in the 4th dimension. I had thought she was *aleady* doing that. (need to dig up in the story). This leyline measurement stuff has been going on for hundreds of chapters now.

Colton

Cool chapter. The trees soul reminds me of a Bruce Lee quote. "Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." -Bruce Lee

psybermonk

Cool. I feel like this arc is a precursor to Mirian finally addressing the Deeps and whatever they're up to in Palendurio

Metal(Liz)ard🏳️‍⚧️

It would be very funny if liuan was independently messing everything up and then sceber gives her the perfect cover

Clara

Keep in mind Liuan's only strength is her paranoia & intelligence agency control. Mirian, like Xecatl, has enough hard power to not need to be Like That all the time. With this Scebur, to Liuan it's probably like her worst fears of Troyin are coming back into reality. This isn't someone presumptuously dominating a conversation, it's someone lashing out in panic

Zurko

How did mirian end up the one being interrogated when its liuan who's so suspect? She's really good at directing the conversation. As if it could be Mirian that's sabotaging the council that she created and put in ALL the effort thus far to save the world. Liuan does basically nothing all cycle and its her country and spies attacking and sneaking around under Scebur. But she comes out questioning Mirian.

Ooh interesting. It’s clear soul/spirit magic are both not fully tapped, with isolated experts being peak, but the lack of sharing means there’s all sorts of possible unknown paths and uses.

Anotherb Account

It took a decade, but we’ve finally arrived at the greatest use/mod of this quote. Congratulations, Guinness Book of Made Up World Records will be in touch once I finish the paperwork

Milo

The interesting thing about how ‘loud’ Troytin was is that any prophets beyond his immediate range were given a massive reason to stay hidden, especially if they don’t have easy keys to power available early.

Anotherb Account

Okay I’m excited as hell. No way something called “veiled temple” isn’t crucial, especially when it’s on the magic nature island that holds the answer to the base problem of the series. Love it can’t wait, thanks for the chapter and have a great week!

Kadi

"I used to be a gray eminence once, but then I took a Mirian to the spy network" - future Scebur, maybe

Clara

If Scebur is real, they might have really weird soul magic. Remember the fanatics who all claimed to be Scebur

Robert Mullins

Scebur as a separate time traveler... Truth or misdirection?
