Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K Texture Pack 2.0.0 Update
🕑 Added 2024-07-01 16:00:10 +0000 UTCUpdate (2024-07-012): A small fix, 2.0.0a, has been released to address an issue where chests would display incorrectly on the 1080p version.
Today's release marks a new era for the Ocarina of Time 3D 4K texture pack project. For many months I've been working on the next major leap to the pack, which has been a part of my larger plan to modernize and greatly improve the quality of all my texture packs overall.
2.0 is, as you can imagine from previous 2.0 releases, the largest update to the pack ever and includes over 350 new 4K textures, covering most parts of the game. But of course, it's much more than just that! Another major improvement to the pack in 2.0 is that it has been completely converted to support the brand new texture pack format, which has many improvements over the old format, such as proper mip map support, a new faster hashing system (faster loading) as well as taking full advantage of the recently added Vulkan Graphics API, which brings a substantial amount of new possibilities in terms of graphics to the game moving forward, such as support for normal maps (more advanced lighting). And that's just a pinch of what's new, here's some more details:
350+ New Textures!
This update includes over 350 new 4K textures which have been remade from the ground up for this version. This includes both environment textures such as the ground, walls, stone tiles and bricks, wooden panels etc. It also includes many new interior textures, completely overhauling several locations, particularly in and around Kokiri Forest, Hyrule Town and Hyrule Field. As part of my overarching goal to improve quality and consistency in all my texture packs, I took this update as an opportunity to remake many of the in-game textures to look cleaner and more consistent with the original art style. There are tons of miscellaneous textures as well that have been completely remade, such as different types of wood and bark, many NPC textures, Link's clothes, grass and groundcover, clovers, ladders, the inside of Jabu Jabu's Belly, the Hylian Shield and many more. Like previous updates, it helps it all comes together really nicely and makes the whole pack feel a lot more polished and complete. The details all add up!
Updated feature support and ReShade
This update brings support for the new custom texture system-rewrite implemented a short while ago! It also makes full use of the new texture pack format. This fixes many notorious bugs, such as the stuttering that would occur whenever new textures were loaded in and the infamous and somewhat terrifying "texture swapping" bug which commonly occured for many users at specific locations. This reallly adds a lot to the experience and makes the game much more enjoyable from start to finish. ReShade has also been updated to version 5.9.2, which also comes with several stability and feature improvements, and should fix the occasional crashing that would occur on configurations with AMD graphics in 5.8 and prior versions. Also, the pack now works well with Lossless Scaling (not by me, but it works well and can generate frames on-the-fly to achieve a buttery smooth 60 fps with no issues whatsoever! This means there is no longer any need for a 60 fps cheat or code. Simply use the Lossless Scaling tool and it will make any game display at 60 fps with no glitches!)
Updated Shader presets (Henriko Ultra 9.0 and N64 3.0)
The default shader presets that come with the pack have been updated and improved in this version! Henriko Ultra 9.0 has once again been heavily modified and hosts various improvements compared to previous versions. It is now equipped with several of the modern shaders used by the recently updated Majora's Mask 3D 4K texture pack, including improved bloom and ambient occlusion shaders. The shaders are now also smart enough to notice what is part of the UI and what isn't, which helps preventing effects from getting applied on top of UI elements, which has been a particularly difficult problem to address in the past whenever ambient occlusion or depth buffer effects were used! The N64 shader preset has also been updated to version 3.0, and now looks a fair bit closer to the original in terms of colors, brightness and tone. Feel free to try out both, and customize them as you wish!
And many bugs fixes, optimizations and minor changes...
Minor issues from the previous version has been fixed. Performance has also been marginally improved due to the previously described optimizations, although keep in mind that Vulkan support in emulators is still not perfect and bugs may occur that did not occur in OpenGL in previous versions. For this reason you are still be able to enjoy the game using OpenGL instead of Vulkan by enabling it in the emulator Graphics Settings, if you want to. This should lead to a more polished and overall enjoyable experience for everyone using the texture pack.

The update is available to all you Patrons here, with a public release as soon as the next texture pack update releases (usually this is after 1 month, but it might take a bit longer if the upcoming update is large!)
There is also a 4K version available, if your computer can handle it! The 4K version includes higher quality textures than the 1080p version, and will work on all displays- even those that don't display in 4K resolution. It will still look better than the 1080p version, no matter the display!

(Only compatible with 3ds emulators, the texture pack does not work on real 3DS consoles or other methods).
How to enable MXAO (ambient occlusion) & DoF (Depth of Field):
This means you can now experience glorious self shadowing around objects, which looks really great with MM 3D's fantasy art style. Try it out by doing the following:
* Set your game view to "Single" in your emulator.
* Enter fullscreen in your emulator.
* Press the "8" key on your keyboard, this will bring up the ReShade UI.
* Check the "MXAO" box in the list of effects, if it's not already checked. The same can be done with the "ADOF" effect, if you want depth of field (might have some issues with masking around UI elements and whatnot, but feel free to give it a try!)
* Go to the "Add-ons" tab in ReShade and check the box next to the depth buffer in the list with the highest value (it should be a very high number while all others are 0, if there's only one in the list, check that one!). This number will change constantly, but don't worry, it's supposed to do that!
* You're done. Have fun!

Rookie Question here I've added HD textures to pretty much every emulator but this 1 so hopefully I don't f it up. But will it still work just fine without ReShade I have ReShade but again I know nothinggg about it or how to use it and I have the newest version got it few weeks ago only shows up on my cemu rn and I'm sacred to mess with anyy of the settings lol. PS. I noticed in your download 1 od the files say not to update reshade that's why I mentioned I have the newest version. PS it looks amazinggg compared to original am i missing alot without the reshade settings? sorry so many questions!!

The EU folder is empty because the pack includes the textures in the USA / NTSC folder only by default to avoid duplicate files, saving on space. The installation instructions provide how to install the pack on European / Japanese versions (basically you just copy the files over from the usa folder to the european one).

Hi there! 1st time commenting, long time patreon (well, just got resubscribe with a new card, lol). So I was wondering, 1.9.0 has more textures in it than 2.0.0, but 2.0.0 introduces the new Folder and _mip0 system. Do I use both? Or just one? Do you plan to add the missing textures from 1.9.0 to the new 2.0.0 format later? Sorry if these are dumb questions. Thanks in advance!

It's correct that previous versions did include textures for Spanish translated UI. However, because of all the major changes made to UI textures in 2.0, among other changes such as the switch to the new texture pack format, which requires manual porting of many of the textures, I made the decision to not include multi-lingual textures in this version. I am currently working on new UI textures for the next version, which will support Spanish among other languages eventually. The same goes for my Majora's Mask texture pack as well, which now supports German language since the 2.1 version. I apologize for this inconvenience!

Hello Henriko Magnificent, a great question, what happened to the Spanish language? I remember that in past updates, if my memory serves me right, I think that in 1 or 2 of the past ones there was a folder with the Spanish language. What happened to it?

That's correct, this is a mistake in the instructions as 2.0 no longer includes any emulator by default, so the script will not work on this version. Simply copying the files like you've described is the correct way to do it from now on!

Hey Henrike, i have a question, your post says the following: ‘[...] “Run this if you're using the PAL (European) version of the game.bat” file inside the texture pack folder. Done! It'll now work great with your version of the game. Easy, right?’ But there is no .bat in the 2.0.0 update, can I still use the textures for the European version? Do I simply copy the contents of the folder ‘0004000000033500’ into ‘0004000000033600’? KR Michael

I tried to figure this out, but I couldn't get it installed. There was no .exe, and the video on how to install unfortunately is outdated. The file didn't include the ReShader execution file either. Any advise?

hi henrico! in the texture pack everything is ok, except the A button which remains in 3ds version and the yellow and red arrows of the maps too. Is this a bug? Thank you very much!

Amazing !! I did the Three Stones Earth, Water, Fire and completed the forest temple now doing the fire temple and all I can say is WOW textures, oclusions, and a Little tune Up in reshade ( Bloom ) the results are mind blowing enjoying the game as if IT was remastered 2024 very happy thank you so much for you hard work and dedication. normal map is sometimes correct also ,and then there's no depth map input (just black)

any pointers for configuring depth buffer? it appears mostly correct but is rotated 90deg ccw. using latest citra w vulkan and reshade 5.9.2, nvidia 1050ti. so using mxao, the shadows are all rotated and ive been tinkering for a week now and can't figure it out :(
