Oh my god guys remember way back when they were on that summer camp trip and they got lost in the woods and Nao told Souta that he would quit soccer so Souta could get his spot on the team back and Souta was like "Why would you think that would make me happy?" During this whole Arashi thing Souta just immediately gave up and quit trying to be anything at all for Nao because he just assumed it would be what would make Nao happy godddd the parallelllllssss Aina you freaking genius

Ok, so a terrible scenario just entered my head: Inoue convinces Souta to go to the karaoke place to talk to Nao, but when he gets there, Nao is singing "Stand By Me" with Arashi. What he doesn't realize is that Nao is daydreaming again, and imagining that Souta is actually the one with him. However, from Souta's POV, it's devastating to see Nao singing "their song" with someone else -- hence why he leaves in tears and Nao has to chase him down, getting us to Cold Hands. (I totally know this isn't what will happen... I'm really just anxiety sharing at this point, lol.)

Ok, 🧐 so if the party is over, then it's been a few hours since we last saw nao. Since he didn't come to the soccer party, we can assume that he stayed for the rest of the concert, but what about the karaoke after with Arashi? And, if he did go, is Souta actually crazy enough to chase him down there after all that's happened??? (That possibility gives me a serious "uh oh" feeling, but we still need to see Aina's karaoke hint play out, so it kinda feels like that's where we're headed. She even took the time to actually name the exact place they're going to -- Moonshine City -- in the conversation with Inoue, so it feels like that might be the intention. 🫣 Unless, of course, there's still yet another karaoke in the cards, but how many karaoke outings can these kids afford?!)

I absolutely LOVE Inoue. She is so smart and kind. I love that she was so honest and went immediately to tell Souta. As much as I want Souta to believe what she tells him next, I don’t know if he’s going to believe it. It’s a very optimistic view and he got “rejected”. Souta has been mainly pessimistic lately so I don’t think that’s going to change. Even if it does, I don’t think he should go after Nao. Believe it or not, I still feel like the ball is in Nao’s court. If things should advance, it should be Nao to advance them. With that being said, I wonder what he’s doing right now?

It feels like Aina arrived at this plotline by asking herself: What are the biggest hurdles for them getting together? And it is Souta's insecurity and Nao's fear of losing people. Now both have to overcome these issues to get their happy ending and I really love how well this is done in this story. The character growth is A+

I really hope this, too. If I had to guess I’d say that even with this revelation from Inoue that Souta is still feeling too hurt or down on himself or sad to go seek out Nao. He will likely be like, “that might be true but he still said no. So there’s nothing I can do.” Souta respects Nao’s wishes even though he is “nosy.” The ball is in Nao’s court to either clarify, back-track, or double-down.

I had this happen with a friend, I confessed and they basically said something similar about our friendship being too important, a year later I still can’t stop wondering if maybe they did like me back cause honestly it really felt like they did. If they’d just said “I don’t see you like that”, I feel like that would’ve been easier to let go of somehow. I feel this. I would love for Souta not to be the one chasing for once, especially since he needs to learn to take care of himself. Nao deserves to have his boundaries respected, and Souta deserves some honesty. If Nao changes his mind it should be up to him to communicate that.

The comments are cheering her on. I for one think they need to give him space. Yeah, clarity may be good but why does he always have to bare his soul and do the footwork? Nao could have explained. People may say that due to Nao's personality it may be hard. Even if he doesn't want to be in an intimate relationship but just friendship, he could try harder to explain. He gets his point across when he's upset and has his outbursts. It's on Nao too if he wants to continue the friendship as well. It takes two. I'm tired of Souta always laying out everything. To be honest, in reality many people would say count your losses and move on; cause if you go back for explanations, you can come across as desperate.

I found the exact wording. So I see where Aina is leading with this. In the Q&A from 2022 in the understand my ship template, Nao is is “waits for confession” and Souta is “Confesses first”-however we know he hasn’t fully confessed yet (Aina’s key words in the QA were that it was a half confession) soo. But I wonder how this leads to Nao guiding Souta away? Any theories?
