thank you for this explanation, I needed it. Because for me it was so sudden I was surprised why would Luffy act the way he did and be so rough on Vivi but he just gave her a reality check and that's why Luffy is the captain of the crew. He's goofy and what not but when it matters he makes the best decisions.

Basicly he try to make her understand that going to the rebel army wont solve any problem and vivi just is to optimistic about the thing that "everything will go well".. She is holding her pain back to give the people of alabasta hope.. Luffy just told her that whatever the outcome is, crocodile is the one who must fall ... You gonna understand why he acted like that and he consider Vivi as his friend and he makes her sure that he is willing to give up his own life for her ^^ but nvm i wrote to much i guess ^^ keep going ^^
