Cypress Painted Skcthpg! ๐ฎ (Moodity Warning)
🕑 Added 2025-03-29 20:32:24 +0000 UTCHey guys! Hope you're all having a great Weekend! The Cypress page is now complete! What began as just wanting to see what Cypress looked like with longer hair, and maybe a tad more "scruffy," turned into a full sketch page, which then became a lighting exercise, which then became this ๐ I'm not complaining of course, but it's just funny how plans change sometimes lol.
Getting the "Viewer originating light source" down was probably the most challenging, because the few times I've done it, it was more like a... "flashlight" type of lighting? That's not exactly what I wanted to try out though, because it's very pinpointed, and the result would be a brighter centre area that fades out near the edges. What I was really looking for was more of the lighting set up that the base material lighting had for my 3D sculpt I've been working on in Nomad. So in the end, that's what I had to pull up as a ref a few times, just to get the lighting right ๐ The main thing that I had noticed, was that there were NO cast shadows what so ever. Definitely a big difference from what I normally do.
With the two bust shots though, I stuck with my go to angled, top down lighting. No issues with those ๐
Working on this also gave me some ideas for Cypress's new outfit, so I'll be working on that soon enough.

This came out heckin' great, Tarn. Obviously Cypress is looking great, even when scruffy and shaggy, but the highlighting around each figure, the border of the page. These also give it character, and that makes every part of this so nice to look at. ๐

I really like the roundness of his upper abdominal area. That curve where it connects to the rib cage. It's realistic, but not something you often see in drawings of muscular characters.
