Maya doesn't want to acknowledge a world where friends find each other funny 😁 One thing that seems to be different on your podcast compared to other podcasts is that you seem to very seldom talk about happy stuff that is going on in your lives, but you talk a lot about bad things (bad break-ups, bad doctors appointments, bad food deliveries, bad restaurant visits, bad boyfriends, bad pickup lines, etc). This content obviously doesn't lend itself very much to laughing at what the other person is saying. Don't know if you have happy stuff to talk about, but maybe it would lighten the mood, if that's what you are trying to go for?

I'm a cashier, and one time, the guy behind the girl I was ringing up was very clearly hitting on her and she was not having it, like one word responses, and short answers. Eventually when he asked for her number she was like "oh I'm trying to work on myself" and he just kept going. I've never rang faster in my life I was just trying to get her out of that situation.

Obviously there's nuance to it, such as if you've told them you're not interested and they persist, then that's cringe.

Maybe I'm oblivious, but when a girl I'm talking to says they have a boyfriend, I don't think of it as respecting him and thinking of the girl as his 'property' to say. I just take the girl saying they have a boyfriend as a cut and dry 'I'm not interested' and they were probably just being nice, so the best thing to do is say 'nice talking to ya' and move on. Just to give a different perspective.
