I liked the twist that we were being narrated too. And yes they didn’t seem reliable

I did a LOT of foreshadowing in JCJS2, and it's also important to remember that my protagonists run the gamut in terms of age and experience, but John is easily the youngest, with him being 21 when the story starts and 31 when he's telling the story, meaning he's sizably younger than Andy, Deke or Kevin (and WAY younger than Max). So John will likely be more impulsive, more prone to distraction and less focused, but when you've got something in your hands you can study at least a little, the natural instinct is to experiment...

I’ve noticed your MC often are methodical in trying to figure things out. Andy in QT with the choices of who to bring into the Rookies, Deke in IIH with experimenting, Kevin in MG with trying to figure out Merlin and John here in JC trying to figure out the coins. There’s nothing bad about it. It’s just a commonality I noticed which also serves as exposition of me the reader which I like. As for John, we’ll see if he figures it out a bit better but since you already told us he’s going to go through this seven times at least I won’t get too attached to the next few.

One of the things I'll talk about in the Wednesday update is how this particular story allows me to use a literary device I haven't gotten a chance to play with in a long time - the unreliable narrator. In the course of this chapter, I revealed a whole handful of things - John's telling the story to someone, it's about ten years after he first got the coin, and John doesn't think the listener is paying enough attention to the story.

Nice cliff hanger. Overall an enjoyable wrap to the first chapter, though not what i had expected. I have a weakness for red headed lasses. Hope i get my wish.

I've noticed you tend to write chapters in a specific way. More often than not, you write a chapter and it is enjoyable and follows whatever you have chosen the storyline to be, then, right at the end, you start to set up the next chapter, just enough to get me interested, and the chapter ends. On one hand I can see why, keep the reader invested, whet his or her whistle just enough to want to continue reading...on the other it is amazingly frustrating for those of us who are lacking in patience. Lol. Nice resolution to the first pair, and some wonderful connecting info to set up the rest of the story. Good job.
