I rather understand the League's irritation at the group going off on it's own. I see it less that they acted without permission than the League mentors being used to knowing what is going on in case they need to step in and save their students. The young people have undoubtably gone off on their on missions over the years after all but every parental figure has to face the 'they're growing up so fast' moment and letting go is never as easy as those not involved think it should be.
