Grieger

I remember a story about Whistler the artist where he whipped up a doodle for someone asking for a commissioned piece for which he charged a gob of money. The guy sued him because it only took him a short time to make it. The argument was it was the culmination of the time spent on that doodle and the decades of experience that lead up to it. With AI, they're basically taking the collective experience of thousands if not millions of people and generating something for you so you can take credit for it because you can't be bothered to learn to actual do the art yourself. I mean, if you want to go grab a ready to cook meal and pretend it's yours, go for it. Just realize in the end, you're basically a fraud and it'll catch up to you. "Oh, that's amazing, can you draw me something right now?" "Uh, Siri, draw me something."

They actually tried the laundry thing. The company got a ton of funding and crashed and burned HARD.

I forget the exact quote, but it was something akin to, “I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so I can draw and write…” There’s more to it than that, but hopefully the point comes across all the same
