Thea is probably terrified that if the Preservers figure out about the Slave/Master funcion of the artifact they might fell tempted to set themselves up as masters. Or much worse, they might begin mass producing cages of returning pain and using them as soldiers. This might lead to Earth Guardians becoming obsolete: 1 - just one artifact was able to produce enough power to match Castallia; 2 - Artifacts are completely unable of disobeying; 3 - They look like robots, so the Preserves can lie to Earth and improve their public image; it just makes sense that the Preservers would be very tempted.
