It cripples that normal flies too. They have to exit not far from the ground. The thing about countering fliers that stands out is they are fliers. The main point of flying is that it is hard to counter. Any other common room we have seen they would just. fly over. Also the pit trap only ruined the small turtle because the dirt tunnels gave it no way to just walk around it. So you are not exactly helping your case.

phantom

Actually the dancers and drones served a related but different function. The dancers from what I can tell need to actively maintain the effect where the drones can make it last.

Drakenclaw

Actually, it only cripples the really big fliers. The smaller bird shapes fly through it easily enough. You also have the common pit trap completely counter the small turtle shade. So a common option that counters one single shade form doesn't seem to be that uncommon. ... Heh.

Oh yeah, more and better honey will very much have knock on effects on everything else, but I’m wondering if it outweighs the allround benefits to every specific part. Then again, dancers would’ve basically made the drones unemployed again… Maybe it’s better like this after all lol

phantom

The thing is more honey is not just more production. It is more honey, better honey. and thus more bees and more versatile bees. It improves basically everything.

Durphymcbob

I'd believe the honey pots as more of a reaenforcement of the foundation of the hives, and it combos well with the Bee Hybridization perk. Plus it is what the bees wanted and that more important than the optimal choice.

phantom

It would have to be a pretty mediocre rare to take a common option over it when those can easily be replaced. Though the dirt tunnel has pulled quite a bit of weight. Really it might actually be op for a common option in hindsight. None of the other common options provide something that can cripple flying units that greatly. Anyways that this is a great rare option. yeahh.

Thomas V.

I uh, don’t think that honeypots were the right decision here? It feels like honeypots improve one aspect of honey producing hives by, say, 50%, while dancers would’ve improved *every* aspect of *every* hive by about ten or twenty percent. They’d be slightly less effective for honey production specifically, but the combined improvements would’ve *far* outweighed the honeypots. Also (and I feel like this is even more important): honeypots, being uncommon, have a far higher chance of showing up in the near(ish) future than the rare dancers do. If Belissar had picked the dancers, he’d probably have gotten the honeypots as well, just a bit later. But there’s no guarantee that the dancers will show up ever again. I really feel like this was the wrong decision.

Drakenclaw

Thanks for the chapter. So, if he was going to get armored karnuq…maybe he didn’t need armored lancers right this moment? I read that more like: Metal armour for the Lancers! Belissar, how could you not think about armoured bees? But yes, the Honeypot was most likely the best for boosting the foundation of the Hive of Hives. Though the Dancers would probably also managed to improve on that a bit. Additionally their boosts would have been adaptable. Switching to different dances that match the situation they are in.

Durphymcbob

Fill a fariy grove with pit traps and honey sprayers people lost and seprated and trapped in maddening honey/pits, is amazing plus the fairy grove would be alot more distracting than dirt tunnels and would allow some bees to do some guellia tactics as well.

Durphymcbob

Thanks for the chapter! Ah honeypots they really do combo well with the bee hybridizaton perk good renforcement of the supply chain, all while improving effiency of honey creation and the creation of the stronger evolved bees! As its said "Amateurs talk about tactics, but professionals study logistics" Belissar in his love of bees and how he has built his tower has kinda creates alot of reasourses. And on the the kurnuq, they are not sitting on the side lines while the bees are getting stonger either, they seem to know their role to be the heavy tanks the front lines, and are going to forge armors now! proper tower shield wall here we come! And the "Dangerous one" Juosiutik will know have a proper lab and room deicated to making the best potions she can. I wonder what kind of potions will come out of this, we know she has the magical monster energy already, but what othe rkinds of potions can she make? A oil that help harden carapace/skin for better defense, a simple haste /speed potion, a strength potion, can she harness her explosive tendencies to make gernades? Alchamey is alot more than just potions im exited to see what sort of buff/weapons she can make for both the beesa nd kurnuq.

Liam

Thank you for the chapter, It seems like Belissar is finally put down strong foundation for his high of hives to grow from.

Fernando Oliveira

Thanks for the chapter. Loved it. There were some amazing choices all around. I understand belissar wanting more defensive room options but he could totally put down another faire grove and use that as the forest he wants. No need to buy a regular forest. The swamp and the lake would also be viable option tho we should probably wait till we can get some aquatic bees before we do that. Belissar also has enough for another room option and if we got lucky and got the swamp or something similar that would be a great defensive option. The new apothecary room sounds amazing, I can't wait to see juosuitik's reaction, bet she's moved in as soon as they tell her. Wonder if she'll grab one or two of the karnuq to be her assistants/apprentice?

Dalton

First of the fifth is eating well with these choices.

Doc

Thanks for the chapter! Oh I can't wait to see the dangerous ones reaction to the new room.
