Thank you so much. It's common in Korea especially for ladies to use a high tone voice when speaking formally. High tone is considered the highest level of politeness. She uses her natural speaking tone with those she is familiar with. She even used her high tone voice with the younger kids even though it was not required and she could talk down to them.
