In the toxic wasteland of the Rot, Rai Jin Paul is an Expendable, fused with a cockroach and sent to die, regenerate, and die again to make a meagre living.

To escape the Rot and enter Sanctuary, the legendary cultivators’ city, he must master radiation qi and fight through a brutal sporting tournament where the losers earn nothing and the winners gain everything. And to be clear, when I say something "works well" i mean that I personally enjoyed how it fit together story wise.

I think the prologue and the beginning work well together. Especially with the thoughts we get from the MC about his family, all that to culminate in the nightmare scene was quite good. The MC's "dont let them break you" refrain also works well as a counterpoint to the world around him.

Awesome! What do you think of the beginning? Would you prefer a quicker beginning, like him already in the nightmare. Or did you like it? Sorry for the questions haha, just need to see what you liked about it :)

The whole thing is right up my alley. Grimdark-ish tones and cultivation and scifi sprinkled is a mix i haven't personally read before. I look forward to reading MOAR!
