Chloe

Heck yea Mango! Tyftc

CringeWorthyStudios

Oh, fuck, they really are secretly Sith, aren’t they…

SwitchBlaze

Good Chappie. Thank you.

Harry Hirsch

I am glad Elaine got her mangos back.

TeaGeek

On the note of mangoes… felt I should share this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/geography/s/pT9v1Fl96N

MoonlitShade

Give us a Lifebringers POV about how they gained a level or something from meeting the person who wrote the Medical Manuscripts. They probably owe their existence, or at least partly, to the Manuscripts, considering microbial life wasn’t a known thing before they were written.

Wumpy

It probably wasn't that the current apprentice was level 2048 but that any apprentice in the partnership would still be learning at that level.

Joseph Kuhr

The End with the mango reminds me that the gardening Skill should have upgraded or levelled up massively from the moon mango. Even if it was the moon Goddesses doing the act should have that much importance to it and the system.

Reodude

Tyftc! Ranger has 1500ish levels in the identify but mentioned he was at the cap and 2048 referenced at the end

Kurosov

I can see that getting creepy in a village setting where everyone wants to marry the prettiest girl in the village and there's a push for someone to hurry up because they need to repopulate. Problem solved by everyone getting to marry a version of her.

PaintedMirror36

I’m pretty sure the [Lifebringers] are also using the Medical Manuscripts knowledge too. So I view it as more of an extension or tangent to the Manuscripts’ contribution. It’s even possible that the Lifebringers also share copies of the Medical Manuscripts with communities they find.

AntiClimax she her

Always two there are, no more no less. A master and an apprentice.

TheBotler

Saved up 20+ chapters to binge and now I'm caught back up again, sad time ahead while I wait for more, thank you for the chapter.

Roombot

That was amazing

enderman

Them being a master and apprentice feels like its more of a role that's passed down rather than two specific individuals. Probably they go on until the master achieves ascension and then the apprentice becomes the master and finds a new student. Cross that with them being elves gaining levels at a stupid rate. I don't think the current leaders of the vampires would know these two personally.

TroubleFait

Their only societal use would be companionship and making kids. No way this doesn't cause issues.

TroubleFait

Immortality, in a way.

TroubleFait

Once again the Mangobringers save the day.

CringeWorthyStudios

Marcelle finally digs herself out of whatever hole she fell in and is just like: “Oh, fuck, I missed them!?” Because these are basically the biomancer equivalent of meeting Elaine. 😅

Selkie

I worked it all out when debating the idea. Basically, he gains consent of people to take “snapshots” of them in the moment, and duplicates the snapshotted people. Then anyone who can’t handle it and has a huge existential crisis he stops duplicating. So the people know and are aware/consenting

Rainer

It seems like they would have created full family lines, from grand parents to babies, all of them (barring the toddlers and babies) knowing they don't have System access while those who survived do. It is my belief that they would treat those who survived akin to gods or something similar.

Kurosov

They also become more important after every immortal war. That the manuscripts survived until this point means an effort was made to preserve the knowledge so during the rebuilding phase healing ability doesn't revert to the state it was in before she wrote it. Healers will never accidentally cause the death of someone like the way Lyra died because the manuscript exists and high level survivors make sure the knowledge is passed on post war. The Lifebringers are also bringing back bacteria and other microbial life which are essential to a stable ecosystem, which was an unknown form of life pre-manuscripts. The lifebringers probably owe their existence to the manuscripts as much as the biomancers do.

Cirvante

There is also the obvious problem of a bunch of people living around superhumans. Anyone with 640 Speed can move 4x faster than someone without System access. The same goes for monsters and animals. Watching people do things with skills and stats in minutes that would take you hours of back-breaking labour. They'd need constant protection and help to survive.

Kennyevilmonkey

Now just waiting for Night and Susan to show up and be like, "Oh, Lifebringers showed up, huh? Sucks we missed them. Haven't seen Bob in a couple milenia... Eh, maybe next time."

Benjamin Smith

Agreed about the new people. Aside from Elaine's personal distress, there's also potential social problems from only half the community having miraculous healing. At best, the new people would be quite envious, and that's assuming the natural burns were cool about it. Granted it would be a temporary problem from a big picture perspective, but it just seems like unnecessary trouble.

Shai182

TFTC! An excellent way to restart Life!

Nait02

The thought sparked a second one, and I realized how similar what the [Lifebringers] were doing to creation. I think there is a 'was' missing in the 2nd part of that sentence

Trevor Mergen

That was cool. Thanks!

Andrew K

Yeah, she seems pretty much tied with the Lifebringers if you consider indirect effects from saving people. If you count the Lifebringers (and any other similar groups) as the parents of those created like this, at this point it seems likely there are extremely few people who don't have *someone* in their family tree who would have died before having children if not for the manuscripts. Could be some rare exceptions in the form of extremely old surviving immortals and very recent descendants thereof, but that's probably about it.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

tr13ze

Thanks for the chapter 😁

Nooo there goes the chances of Elaine taking Stygian dragon, rainbow Phoenix healer. Not creating new people was the right choice. It would’ve eaten Elaine alive not being able to heal them. This also raises the question did the elf Marcelle saved gain system access after being entirely replaced.

Kurosov

The implication was they aren’t fakes. They’re just like the folk during creation aside from system access. Night himself for example was spawned into existence as an adult with enough knowledge to get by, only as he was speared by a god meant he did get system access. This is a world where it’s established fact the chicken came before the egg and it did so fully formed with no evolutionary ancestor.

Kurosov

At least they didn’t seem to have made any apple trees. With the prevalence of the manuscripts over many thousands of years it’s likely her own contribution to life is also in the billions. Not to mention if these first generation copy creatures are unaffected by skills then the core knowledge of healing becomes more important than the pre-manuscript era method of just letting the skill do the heavy lifting when treating spawned folk.

CringeWorthyStudios

Damn, that was impressive. Still, burn all the mosquitoes! Thanks for the chapter!

Cryhard

Thanks!

Jason Hardman

All praise the holy mango.

Claudio Mosconi

Mango!

Sébastien Kingsbury

I wonder how they create masses of sentient people that don't just have mass existential crises from basically being obvious fakes

Zalundro
