Bubbles The Amoeba

I mean, the Pekari have quite a bit of tech if I remember correctly. If the gods know about that, it would naturally seep into the vernacular

Trevor Mergen

Thanks!

Kurosov

Native and heavily influenced by her nation of birth on Pallos. Despite the many costume changes and time spent exploring other cultures any time she thinks of clothes the default is always "Tunic".

Markus

We dont know how the he amount of people you govern influence the amount of votes. Is it linear, exponential or logoritmic? But good catch. There is probably a lot of reasons for Exterreis policy. It is a really good way to survive if everything goes wrong. They expand their territory a tiny it each time. And as you mentioned, it might be a good way to game the system.

Selkie

"Die a hero, or live long enough to become a villain"

Selkie

Well, they can't vote FOR the proposal, which is a smaller win

Selkie

ugh, damnit. It's SO HARD to divorce myself from modern idioms... plus the sheer number of idiomatic expressions that sound fine but are actually industrial-age idioms, like 'staying on track' (train related). I've tried to remove all electronic related idioms, but occasionally some sneak in

Yeah, "finger on the 'smite' button" sounds like a specific reference to a Far Side comic. Probably still understandable even without the reference, though.

Thorium

I didn’t phrase that very well. I’m not questioning that Ciriel would know about the concept of a button. It makes sense that someone (or rather, a lot of people) would have gotten the idea when making golems or other technology. Rather, for “finger on the x button” to be a phrase people actually use to say “ready to do x”, you would expect buttons to be common knowledge. Hence my curiosity on where people use/know of buttons from. I am going with the assumptions that Elaine isn’t using god slang when talking with Ciriel (although that would be hilarious in its own right, but raises the question of why buttons would be more common among gods than mortals), and that since it has been more than a century since she was on Earth, she wouldn’t be using a phrase that isn’t in use on Pallos.

Thibault Casanova

Hooooo, bribing a lot of people with immortality has a great potential for backfire !

Songy

To be fair, I think I remember her reflecting that she has gone full native by now anyway.

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Rainer

Maybe knowledge from other worlds? We know Night went to other worlds. It's possible knowledge was brought back by others and the gods keep it a secret to prevent unnatural development.

Roombot

Well that’s on them, she’ll certainly warn them first

Thorium

Out of curiosity, how does Ciriel know about buttons? They must be at least somewhat common for the phrase "finger on the smite button" to make sense, but I can't think of anywhere they'd have those kind of buttons on Pallos aside from perhaps specialty golems.

Ronny Cook

Elaine offering immortality could get awkward if somebody has to drop out due to White Dove getting creative (as with the Senator awarded with the Midas touch.)

tr13ze

Thanks for the chapter 😁

FaMa_Tarapax

even if Arachne wasnt around to do it, she could have done it on her own. She's good enough at intel gathering. but she isnt specialised in it. Arachne is as specialised as can be, its totally reasonable for Elaine to turn to her first. Nosy as Arachne is, she would have probably done the reasearch even if Elaine wasnt there at all. she likes to know everything that can be used to her advantage after all.

Roombot

HA! Elaine the lobbyist

Thorium

It should also be noted that regardless of her actual position on the Pekari, watching everyone not in the know going "why the hell is this ancient, borderline insane immortal telling us NOT to gang up on this pest that kills countless people every year?" IS funny.

Khal Lee

Awwww no smiting. . . Yet. . . But thanks for the chapter!!!

TeaGeek

Pretty magnanimous of Night, considering how many people must have taken [Vampire Slayer] over the years.

TheBotler

Victi patient.....hmmm victorious patient! Thank you for the chapter!

Nematrec

dash

Kurosov

If she were more political minded she wouldn't outright say it. "So where are you from? oh how nice I'd love to visit sometime but it'd be a shame if the treaty restricts my movement, I've always loved to travel. The first time I left my birth nation was when I unlocked my immortality skill. Had a big party when I cam back home arranged by the newly appointed first Emperor of Remus. Despite being a Human leader in a nation full of Vampires he was the first Immortal Emperor thanks to my return home."

SwitchBlaze

Good Chappie. Thank you.

Kurosov

Her previous position was that they were in fact a net good for the world which is why she kept the secret.

Andrew

Thank you!

Geoffrey Kalford

its likely more the joke that the Pekari, for all their faults, exist to powerlevel those willing to actually go ahead and fight them. Anurak, being the killer DM, wants his fun to persist

Deltoren

"Arachne and I traded amused looks, and there were a good number of people looking like they were suppressing a laugh. It was a funny joke to be in on, as murderous as it could be." Wow elaine is being a piece of shit here. Completely backtracking on her previous position on the pikari.

Kurosov

The post immortal war settlement plan of Exterreri to split up and found multiple independent settlements has very different connotations seeing the treaty chapters. It wasn’t a higher chance to survive another catastrophe it was a game of Go, marking territory and later having a claim on what is in between. A game of Go where the individual pieces at the end directly turn into votes at the treaty.

TroubleFait

Elaine going around making offers people won't want to refuse.

Anonymous

Congrats Elaine, after making every single non immortal participant of the council of Kazehara immortal, you started a massive war because everyone wants an invite the next time around!

Geoffrey Kalford

Elaine is very lucky that Arachne is around and willing to manage the research for her political ambitions.

Mad Dessert

Thanks!

CringeWorthyStudios

I love the idea of Elaine walking up to some random guy and just being like “so, want to become immortal? If you promise not to vote for healers being banned again I’ll make you immortal.” Thanks for the chapter!

heh

Legitimately forgot Elaine was reincarnated. It’s been a long ride
